jimmytimestep 2,659
I suppose the Gaga albums that would/should be on here are The Fame and Born This Way. 2008 - not sure if I’d give it to Sasha Fierce over The Fame. Both have high points and low points. 2011 - born this way was a cultural revolution but its tough to compete with

Full article: https://ew.com/music-reviews/30-essential-albums/ No Gaga? I’m not surprised tbh, Entertainment Weekly hates her. During the ARTPOP era I cancelled my subscription because EW was piling on the Gaga hate and publishing articles using false information that was swirling around just to slam her. I expected so much better from them. When she came back with ASIB of course they were back on her side but they’re trash. Ew indeed.

boyerased 2,883
It’s a crime not to put either The Fame or The Fame Monster. I’m saying that not as a Gaga fan. It only gets tricky because while The Fame was released in 2008, its full impact was felt during 2009. That’s why they should’ve at least included TFM. They said they're debating influence. I'm thinking, what albums are essential listens bc of their influence on the industry/culture/the status quo. Turning points. Gaga was probably close but they could only pick one. 21 over BTW bc Adele, by the incredibly superficial standards of the pop machine, should not have been a winner. Nevermind as huge and lasting a star has become. She's the "anamoly" that disproved the all the pop machines rules. She opened the door for those who thought their talent wasn't enough. Billie Eilish (and Finneas), was another knock to the all knowing pop machine. She broke the "rules" and made their mark before that album was even released. I mentioned this vid earlier this year, when ppl were trying to knock her Grammy wins. "She's an intellectual, your honor"
