Two drag race contestants in hiatus because of online hate/harrassment

As of today, two contestants of Drag Race have announced they would be going into an indefinite hiatus on social media because of the amount of harrassment, death threats and negativity they have been receiving.

Canada's Drag Race finalist Rita Baga from Montreal announced her hiatus said she was completely overwhelmed and gobsmacked by the hate received on Twitter, Instagram and even her business e-mails. 

Brita Filtr, contestant of RuPaul's Drag Race season 12 has also announced an indefinite hiatus from social media as she has struggled with the online hate, bullying, alcoholism & substance abuse to cope with the psychological pain and has announced she will be getting professional help because of suicidal thoughts.

I totally get that people like to talk sh*t about artists they don't like on any platform, let it be GGD or twitter. We all like to tear bad albums apart, comment on ugly covers etc etc. 
BUT I will never understand how people can be personally insulting on this level and even attack the person in a DM or in the comments. Let alone sending someone death threats. Online culture is so f*cked up!

I don't understand why people even send death threats or any hate for that matter, like how messed up do you have to be? It's okay if you don't like a drag queen or any celebrity for that matter but to take it that far for someone you have never even met? Like if you don't like someone just ignore them  but I guess the internet makes everyone brave and entitled

I actually hate online culture, imagine sending death threats to someone because of a tv show. If you get that angry over a tv, your not a 'fan' your an absolute loser and a lunatic. I bet these ****ers would never say that in person either, hiding behind anonymous screen names. Absolutely disgraceful.

So sad to hear they have been bullied like that. Online social media culture is really messed up, but people say horrible things because they can hide in social media. Most of those people would never say such horrible, nasty things to them to their face because those who bully online are cowards. That is all they are, cowards. 

 

I wish Brita and Rita the best and hope they will find happiness and joy in life again.

I'm mad at Canada Drag Race but not even in MILLION TIMES I'd go on the social media pages of these queens to insult and offend them, it's something unthinkable for me.

No Brita didn’t do anything. The hate comes from how she was perceived on the show by fans.

It doesnt matter if the judges favor her over another queen. There is absolutely no excuse to send death threats and harass someone online. There is no justification at all. Just ****ing losers/lunatics think its acceptable behavior.
