I don’t know what’s funnier, the people meltdowning over Babylon or the people meltdowning over other people’s meltdowns :ladyhaha:

Y’all... Gaga has left the chat. She’s going back to sleep after the VMAs performance. This month has been a nice last breath for the Chromatica era but it’s time we move on. Gaga clearly has.

Y’all @Brecht has spoken. Time to pack up. :bear:

I reeeeally hate to say this, because it's not what I want AT ALL. But I think Gaga knows that her future lies in ASIB-like ballads. The older, richer, more out-of-touch she gets-- and especially with her illness-- it's going to be nearly impossible for her to release pop music that connects with younger, increasingly more diverse audiences. She can't do hip hop or R&B, so she will have to do Adele-like ballads. Chromatica was her farewell dance-pop album, and we have to accept that. And COVID robbed us of the ability to really enjoy it to its fullest. brb gonna go cry one out.

I doubt it. Gaga's NOT much of a planner, I think. Not long-term, anyway. Impulsive, spoiled, a bit fatalistic, maybe? Unpredictable, for sure.

You'd think after the success of ASIB she'd release a similar album, or at least include a BALLAD (or two) on Chromatica, for the GP? :ally:

You'd think she'd strike while the iron is hot, do another musical or love story? But no! She waited a year then picked a psychodrama about a real-life murderess.

Yes, she's versatile and talented but probably NOT as ambitious as she used to be. Not only that, she seems pretty quiet and keeps to herself... She has health issues, you know?

Truth is, pop music is youth-oriented. Hustle all you want, but it's HARD for a female pop star in their mid-thirties to have a solo #1 hit (or even top 5) in 2020. And in a few years Ari and Selena will be in their 30s! It is what it is.;)

Should I bookmark this for when she releases a third single? :ally:

I think we're saying the same thing. I should clarify: I'm sure she'll do more pop records in the future (albeit I think it will be at least another 3-4 years). But like you said, I do think this is probably her last chance at dominating or having another imperial era in pop music, solely due to her age. Yes, Madonna had a couple hits once she hit 40, but let's not act like she dominated pop music like her younger peers did during the same eras (Britney, for example).
