I just couldn't stand it lol Ur obviously not alone haha Just now, Hades said: Avatar is utter garbage. But again I think that's what the issue was. The story line was a solid one, the acting was good and the CGI was amazing and it was high budget. So I don't think the issue is that the movie wasn't good. By most measures it was a very solid movie But i think they raised the bar so high with the hype, that it made it impossible to meet the expectations for many which makes it appear mediocre It's like how looking back BTW is perhaps the most loved Gaga album by the fan base in general yet at the time it was hard to be impressed by it because Gaga hyped it crazy next level with anthem of our generation and album of the decade crap But unlike fans that relisten to an album and forget innitially unmet expectations, most people are not rewhatching movies much. So avartas reputation is irreperably stained by that overhyping

I'm holding off remakes coz I'm scared I might be biased when I see it since movies when I watched when I was younger had that certain nostalgia that they can't recreate. Well I can't really tell u how it compares cuz I didn't see the older one All I know is I really really liked the one I saw that was more modern. Easily in my top 20 all-time fav movies Given how insanely massive my catalogue of SciFi movies is, top 20 is very high up the list lol

Franch Toast 26,831
I really like The Host from the same director as Parasite (Bong Joon-ho). It's a monster movie. I also love the Ghost in the Shell animated films – Japan has so much great animated SF. Almodóvar's The Skin I Live In has some SF elements but is super disturbing. I think my overall favorite SF movie is the original Blade Runner, and the original Metropolis directed by Fritz Lang is brilliant, but Contagion feels very relevant for our times. So many compelling SF films from around the world! If anyone wants to watch a North Korean monster SF film, you can watch this gem (made by a kidnapped South Korean director): She/Her/Hers

I could watch it a thousand times. I am obsessed with all the work that went into it (Gaultier doing the costumes! Concept art by Moebius!) And I know it is really disliked but I can’t help but love the Dune movie And I guess A Clockwork Orange is technically sci fi. Not to be a weirdo about it but I would literally be buried with a copy of that movie if it weren’t for the fact I would rather be cremated/have my body disposed of in the most environmentally friendly way possible when I die. But I think one has to consider the masterpieces like Metropolis, Blade Runner, Solaris and 2001: A Space Odyssey while making a list of greatest scifi movies. They're truly great in their own way. CannaeDrive 3,412
Haw could you forget about "2001 A Space Odyssey" This was the seminal masterpiece for SF movies, none of these movies in your list wouldn't even exist without 2001. Anyway, I'll go with Interstellar as my second fave. "Fame Is A Boomerang" - Maria Callas

Fresco 1,688
The Warrior Nun on Netflix is has some surprisingly good sci-fi aspects, especially in later episodes. Not a classic movie though. It's a new series.

I think Aliens is supposed to be Alien in the poll, but I'm not sure because they are two different movies (and the one without the "s" is far superior). And yes to your other comments. Franz Ferdinand 2,359
Would Contact be considered SciFi? Because if so, that one is the best imo. Such an amazing movie.
