I don't care for the DSN video. But it doesn't matter - TONS of crap videos get nominated every year. We all know the VMA nominees nowadays are based on "hits" not actual QUALITY videos. If that were the case, videos like G.U.Y. and Marry the Night would've been nominated. So let's not act like she didn't at least deserve at least one or two nominations at the bare minimum.

And BMH is top 15 in the U.S. It's certainly a hit and has gotten lots of airplay, playlisting, so.....

The VMAs are surely meant to reflect what pop music is at the present time? It can't do that if two of the biggest artists aren't being recognised in any way. 

ok but is’t not MTVs fault that Harry and Dua did not have impressive MVs. It’s the VIDEO MUSIC AWARDS. Hence why the nominees are for music videos, not “Biggest Shitty Radio Smash”

It's not like she has multiple songs nominated. They only nominated ROM because it's a duet with Ariana. 

Even Dua has multiple song nominations and she was like, yeah, no. 

Where could she perform live on stage with a relatively large number of TV viewers lately? She doesn’t seem to want perform from home with minimal set on Jimmy’s shows. VMA's star may be a bit faded, but it still seems the greatest option.

To me, upstaged by VMA standards, means you totally forgot happened. I loved the VMAs because there are (were) at least 10+ moments that could go down as iconic, legendary, unforgettable and/or scandalous. From the carpet to the after-party, pop culture history was being made.

In '09 Kanye/Taylor was the headline the next day but Gaga hanging and bleeding, or thanking God and the gays; Beyonce's single ladies perf and wins and giving Taylor back her moment; Janet accepting Michaels award and his tribute perf, were not "forgotten".  Same in '13, Miley twerking was a moment, but Gaga opening and staying with her ass out, the 1D moment is iconic stuff. When Gaga shows up she's always a highlight, not a second thought, is what I'm saying.
