it’s well known on the internet that using terms like ‘bbc’ is degrading and fetishising

it’s obv a different case if you were being ironic, but it’s honestly hard to tell

So this is an honest question:

Over the last few weeks in threads relating to POC, I've read many POC state that with topics relating to it, white people need to learn to listen. Stop talking and listen to what POC say.

I agree.

However, how does that work when POC give you different views? How do you navigate what is considered "okay" versus not, when asked to follow that logic?

You have a person who is POC here saying that something like "BBC" is not offensive (or at least didn't have an issue saying it), but then others do? I've seen POC state they don't have an issue with various things, but then some do? So for a white person who is taking the advice of "shutting up and listening", how does one know what is actually okay when there's so many differences of opinions?

The whole "Chile" thread. There were POC saying they didn't see an issue with it and people were reaching, and then you had the opposite.

Just general curiosity.

Wow look at y'all saying it's just a publicity stunt to prove he's not racist... Y'all are disgusting judging a relationship like that

jeffree has constantly lied for years, id say that more than half of the things he says are lies. his relationship with his ex was half lies as well.

its obvious this is just publicity, otherwise he wouldn't have posted such a picture

the way i look at it, everything really is on an individual basis. obviously not everyone is gonna be offended by the same things, there will never be a 100% consensus. all we can really do is respect that certain things are offensive to some people, and either accept that we’re offending some people, or change that behaviour.

it is sometimes hard to tell what’s okay and what isn’t, particularly when there’s discourse, but i guess in that case it‘s up to your judgement if you want to do/say certain things. if you understand why it’s offensive, then obviously dont say/do it.

the reason why i felt the need to quote the person i quoted was because they used the term ‘bbc’ in reference to someone else, and there’s been a lot of discussion surrounding terms like that, as well as the fetishisation of different races (not only black people, but also asian people, etc). had they been using it in reference to themselves or someone else who doesn’t mind it, that’s different, and that’s their prerogative. but they were talking about a complete stranger, using terminology that’s generally seen as dicey territory.

What's with the zipper above his butt? :emma: the only thing I can think of is that he's wearing a stage ready body suit with a mic pack pouch.

that is weird.. why is there a zipper right there. Strange.
