What's the point you are trying to make? I'm lost because this was simple, Sofia was ok with Ellen making of her accent.  Anything else is senseless

There is nothing but pure hatred in Ellen’s eyes, voice and heart. I’ve always felt that way. This was just ONE thing. She hates anyone who isn’t more powerful than her.

Daaaaamn.

So you’re just gonna completely ignore Sofía’s own comment about the “controversy” she’s in so you can continue to blame Ellen? This really is our generation

No, i didn’t ignore Sofia’s own commentary. She’s trying to get people to stop hating Ellen, and good for her. But this matter is about more than just two people. This is about racism in Hollywood. INGRAINED racism starts at the top, from of the biggest producers and TV hosts. As we all know, rot starts in the head. The world needs to hear this conversation.

Do u guys know what was the most insulting? This is literally nothing with Sofia, what Ellen did with Eva Longoria was cringe :ladyhaha: As Eva was pregnant, Miss Ellen decided it would be a good idea to guess her son's name, and guess what, all the names were stereotypical and racist, some stuff like "Taco", "Burrito" Im not kidding you

This is what people should be outraged about

REALITY

There’s also a difference between saying “I don’t like her because she created a toxic work environment” and saying “I never liked her because she seems arrogant”. It’s ok to want to call someone out for their wrong doings but things are always blown out of proportion when there’s a celebrity involved. She’s not the first employer who has made their employees uncomfortable (not that it’s ok) but because of who she is now many people are gonna go through her past interactions with guests on her show and try to smear her image as much as possible even without knowing if the allegations are true or not. It quickly evolved from “Ellen created a toxic workplace” to “Ellen is a racist”.

I don't disagree with what you're saying. Like I said, let's learn to have some nuance.

No, she is only explaining about her experiences with her. Where did she say stop hating Ellen or anything? She simple wrote: Two comedians having fun with each other to entertain. I was never a victim guys, I was always in on the joke.

Don´t take things out of context @Lord Temptation I understand you have good intentions but this is not about that.

I’m sorry but if people found Ellen doing Sofia’s accent offensive in any way should also be saying Gaga singing Alejandro is offensive too. :trollga:

My point being, both are ridiculous and it was always obvious Sofia was in on the joke.

Amen

I’m reading between Sofia’s lines. She’s playing the bigger person by not joining in the chorus demanding Ellen be cancelled. She wrote what she did for damage control as she does not want to have Ellen (one of the world’s most powerful LGBT+ celebrities) or her allies come after her. She could have easily ignored the subject, which would have sent an even stronger message that she finds the accusations that unimportant to begin with.

But how can we expect Hollywood to address it’s issue with race if being powerful or “just joking” gives you a free pass?

“Doing drugs in movies is bad because people will think it’s ok to do drugs in real life”

If people really are stupid enough to think watching two friends read a script on tv gives them the availability to be mock immigrants they don’t know then maybe that’s not a problem with Ellen’s show but the people who think it’s ok’s character.

Okay the drugs part is I kinda disagree because I think we don't need a normalized/casualized/glamorized/stylized visual of people doing drugs, which is now become a problem in US I think, because it's become too casual to do taking drugs scene or bring the drugs topic in movies, even in just a conversation. Again, just my opinion or assumption. But this is too far out of topic.

On topic : I also agree on Sofia, it's not a big deal.

I'm not going to lie, as a Latino it made me uncomfortable and I didn't know it was a thing now or that people were complaining about it. I never did.

But, that has been Sophia's thing for a while now. She took something that people made fun of and turned it into a multi-mullion dollar business. Like Charo did in the 80's.

But it does give way to people who aren't as powerful as Sophia to be made fun of.

It feels that you are forcibly trying to connect things in a way so you can satisfy your sensibility. You really want this to be something that is not.

By reading "between the lines" things get out of context.
