A lot of people were being sensitive of Ellen seemingly making fun of Sofia's accent. Well the actress took to twitter to drop her thoughts on that matter

I’m sorry but if people found Ellen doing Sofia’s accent offensive in any way should also be saying Gaga singing Alejandro is offensive too. :trollga:

My point being, both are ridiculous and it was always obvious Sofia was in on the joke.

I’m SO glad she spoke out. All these people who love to bandwagon can look elsewhere for their anti-Ellen propaganda.

Well there’s you have it. It was okay for Ellen to make fun Sophia accent because Sofia gave her the permission.

Hihi, but if you do it irl and catch some hands, that’s on you :bon:

Please ignore the spelling in username. I am a Beyonce stan afterall.

What Ellen did is not wrong if you watch one video, but its all she does every time Sofia is on. For example, nothing wrong with saying Gay jokes, but if thats all you do every time you see me, and its all you talk about around me, it makes me question things.

Well, let's learn to have nuance...

On the Sofia Vergara stuff, I never found that stuff particularly offensive. Sofia, to me, has always seemed like she understands and takes the jokes in a very comical way. I don't think that Ellen was ever being racist or anything like that. As Sofia said, it's just two comedians knowing how to play jokes off of each other.

That said, I hate this "Oh, everyone's just getting on this anti-Ellen hate bandwagon." Like, no, that's not it. Is wanting better work place conditions getting on the "hate bandwagon"? There are reports of bad working conditions over at the Ellen show, so why is Ellen getting called out all of a sudden a "hate bandwagon"? If there were legitimate wrongdoings over there, she needs to be held accountable.

Of course she was in on the joke, I don't think anyone doubted that.

The point is Sofia Vergara is a rich, powerful woman.

But a poor immigrant woman being made fun of by racists in real life is more damaging and airing this type of humor gives agency to this in real life.

I personally don't think it's such a big deal and obviously it's a scripted scenario on the show, but I do see the point of critics.

So basically stop being offended for other people when you don’t even know how they feel.

Preach. Some people really need to learn how to do this. It's one of the most annoying things ever and the virtue signaling is not at all appealing. Thankfully I don't know anyone like this offline.

We are talking specifically of this matter. So Sofia has spoken and said she was all in on it. Of course now we know Ellen is no angel but one thing is being no angel and a total different thing being called a racist just because you get along well with someone and people get offended by it.

“Doing drugs in movies is bad because people will think it’s ok to do drugs in real life”

If people really are stupid enough to think watching two friends read a script on tv gives them the availability to be mock immigrants they don’t know then maybe that’s not a problem with Ellen’s show but the people who think it’s ok’s character.
