I really donât understand why especially Shallow and ARUTW had the screaming left in them. I guess it was for effect but itâs really disorienting. Unbreak My Heart by Toni Braxton was the bigger ballad in â98 in the sense that all the cool kids werenât afraid to publicly listen to it, and it felt like it we chose to hear it instead of it being shoved down our throats. So, I chose Shallow. I know itâs too soon, but it just feels more authentic than MHWGO. The fact that itâs a duet, and was the first big male-female duet since the damn 80s (since 1987âs Iâve Had The Time of My Life from the film Dirty Dancing) makes it really special. It truly caught the whole world off guard. Nobody expected Gaga to be such a good actress, nobody expected Bradley Cooper to be such a good singer, and everyone that DIDNâT pay attention to Joanne didnât expect a song like that from Gaga. In fact, many couldnât even believe that it was her singing. In years to come Shallow will become a gold standard ballad for generations to come. Maybe even like The Eagleâs Hotel California.
