I think it would’ve peaked higher if there wasn’t such a long gap after Applause. That user said it had very sexual lyrics as if Do What U Want didn’t peak at number 13 and that song had sexual lyrics and R Kelly on it.:billie:

Little Monsters: Delusionally thinking that the amount of material Gaga feeds us is connected to a song's chart performance since 2014

i still don't know where GUY went wrong. it fit with what was popular at the time, it was catchy, great video.

i think it really was just anti-Gaga hate, if she released it today, Top 5 for sure.

yes and

To be honest, the fans were not that delusional. Back then, Gaga was still huge, and almost all her singles were always top 10. No one could predict that the song would flop so hard :bear:

is it because of the DWUW mess?

the lyrics and music are not radio-friendly and that's it
most fans still believe heavy metal lover and bloody mary could've been huge :bear:

The whole DWUW fiasco definitely killed G.U.Y's chances before it ever even had a chance tbh

plus it was cool to hate on lady gaga at that time :fatcat: those were dark days

live and let live

G.U.Y was definitely robbed. If people weren't so against Gaga at the time it would have done really well I think.

GUY should have been released in October as a single with video and DWUW scrapped

gagas career wouldn’t have dealt as much damage me thinks

but I’m just a little manager baby
