I'm surprised, nobody mentioned 911, yet.

My biggest enemy is me, pop a 911

My biggest enemy is me, pop a 911

My biggest enemy is me, ever since day 1

Pop a 911, then pop another one

Even tho I like the message, this repetition paired with that abysmal production (SorryNotSorry.gif) makes this part so annoying for me. Thanks to the transition from Chromatica II this is not a total skip for me :neyde: .

Come here, GGD, I'm ready to be dragged

There's no reason for you to be dragged, 911's chorus is weak. I like this song, but this chorus is just not it.

I hope she will see all those appreciation threads, too. :excited2:

I think rain on me has a few too many ‘rain. On. me.’s but I wouldn’t call it lazy. I just think it would be more effective if it was just the one at the end, or near the start of the song

Well, trust me, she knows it is impossible to make an album that doesn't have some little details that some people hear. It's actually indicative that the album is so good to most people that they focus on the details

When I was young, I prayed for lightning

This line is one of the song's hooks, along with the 'When I was young, I felt immortal'. The repitition of these lines are very much intentional.

When I was young, I felt immortal

makes me want to cry every time I hear it. And I listen to SFA ~10 times a day. :poot:

#2 Free Woman
She sings "I walk the downtown, hear my sound" twice and it's wierd (WHERE IS Watch, watch me now, electric, devotion :bear:

She sings "When I was young, I prayed for lightning" twice. Again - she could write some new line :selena:

Pretty sure those are stylistic devices

I've stated my opinion before on the production so without dragging that back around I would love to say that the album redeemed itself for me with the lyrics but the OP is right and there are moments where it just seems repetitive and weak.

In Free Woman when she sings "not nothing" twice in a row and "kiss me to hardly" :awkney: I just can't. It makes me cringe to the point I can't listen to it or enjoy it. Stupid Love as a whole I can hardly take and for as much as I love Fun Tonight and 1000 Doves for the messages of the songs, its the actual titles in the lyrics that ruin them for me.

This album is by far the most personal work she has released but it feels like she got to a certain point and either said f*ck it I'm done or just let Bloodpop take the reins to much. I don't know.

Edit: I do not think that singing things twice in a row or multiple times is lazy. She uses that a lot and its common in pop music. Its literally just the double negative that drives me crazy in Free Woman.

Also to mention that it's a pure POP album

Repetition is a resource used to appeal to people

To be catchy lol :poot:

The only ugly line is THAT one in Free Woman :bear:

I'm not nothing unless I know I can :awkney:

Isn't that the chorus to Sour Candy tho? :bear:

Alice and Sour Candy are two songs that don't fit the traditional "1st verse → chorus → 2nd verse → chorus → bridge → final chorus" and people don't realize it + will fight forever over it and it doesn't even matter

Why does she sing only 1 verse in "Alice" :bradley:

That's an anaphora, it's a rhetorical device. I find it beautiful.
