Sorry but architects have been less and less inventive. From structures that need constant manutentation to msterials that dont work.

And this glass thing is usually an obseession that after some years looks horrible. Like just why... Its all show

I mean it's not just a gimmick, it's for people to know if there are people secretly waiting inside the toilets especially when it's late. But I wouldn't risk it either :laughga:

This is barely even trying to be inventive just another example of governments building anti-homeless architecture instead of dealing with the problem. Agree with the glass thing too - didn’t expect this sort of thing from the Japanese government at all usually smarter with these things

i wouldn't trust it myself. my worst fear with this would be my ass in there taking a huge and disgusting **** and then suddenly the opaque walls become transparent and there i am. for everyone to see. :selena: sitting there. or worse in some kind of.... position... cleaning up.

A position similar to this perhaps?

Ok, then weirdly innovative :) I understand why they have made it trasparent, but they would have achieved the same result by putting a sensor inside, with a simple panel on the outside that for example turn red if it's occupied. There was no need to make it transparent. it's creepy.

As an architecture student myself, I have to say that's sadly true, but partial. Everything has two sides including architecture, there's the artistic side and functional side of the field. In order to make the ideal work is to balance both. If you Google Sou Fujimoto, the architect of this bathroom, he is one of Japan's "starchitects or "celebrity architect" his architecture has always been sculptural and isn't functional at all. So it makes sense . Although I do not think that were getting less inventive, in fact I think architecture is developing to be more functional due to for example: climate change. Yet of course the ones that gets publication is "starchitects" because they're generally more popular.....kinda like singers or musicians if they sell out

Well.. I can see the lady sitting there. Why is it not opaque?

Cuz she's not doing the business, duuuuh - it's not gonna turn opaque if you're just there for show :trollga:

It's a joke! When you give me that look, it's a joke!
