But overall, I think she treats her previous work with the respect it deserves. She constantly references The Fame, she says she wants to be remembered for the message behind Born This Way, she even maintains that ARTPOP was smarter than people give it credit for and a misunderstood era.

 

Not all criticism of a previous body of work is "trashing", some of it is just growth as an artist and human being. I mean, even this Miley clip doesn't seem too bad for me, altough I'm not exactly familiar with her comments about Bangerz,  so that I could notice some kind of cynic pattern in her promotion.

Gaga's is more "I thought I was stable, turns out I wasn't."

This is a bit different. As a niche artist she naturally has a share of hipster fans that thought the album was too pop and polished and overall worse than her previous albums. Her paiting Art Angels in a negative light makes more sense in the context of many of her long-time fans criticising her for 'seling out'.
