CNN national poll: Biden 50%, Trump 46%

The thing is majority of Americans know the virus halted the economy but it’s already bounced back by a lot, and they say well it was good with Trump, wasn’t with Biden so in their heads they are obviously going to trust Trump.  (You can try to argue otherwise but thats just what “most” see.)
 

‘now had trump done something personally that made it crash (like unnecessarily started a war or sabotaged a bunch of trade deals) then people would be a bit more interested in giving Biden a chance, but like ive said all along. Biden was a bad choice, (so was Hillary) and his VP pick just hurts him. I hope the democrats come together, quit rigging their own primaries and put forward good candidates for 2024 so that in 2025 - January - Trump will leave and someone who can remember where they are, and put together a sentence runs for the Democrat party. (And wins).

Democrats need to stop focusing on how to make up reasons to remove him or obstruct things. That is a big reason many left and are voting Trump. Now just by history sakes - come 2024 a Democrat will win (seems to basically always flip every 8 years lol) but the democrats need to get a good candidate and spend time on them rather than pointlessly going after the one who already won, and make sure there isn’t 12 or 16 years of a republican in power

Three other polls since then show Biden with a lead of 10 or more. That's not to suggest Biden has it in the bag, but the CNN poll is definitely an outlier.

We still have close to three months left. There are so many factors in play and it’s impossible to know what will happen in society, with the economy and politically in the upcoming months.

Can someone explain to me, even with all of his shortcomings, why is Trump still a contender?

I find it hard to believe that there are hoards of people who will willingly vote for Trump. In my opinion, it takes a certain kind of person to vote for Trump again. And it's astonishing that there appear to be many of them.
It's concerning and shocking. Like... how?

It's like he's just a cardboard cutout with no real policy or beliefs. I know what we're voting against, but what exactly are we voting for?  Not being Trump isn't enough to win this.

They’re not voting for what he does for them, they’re voting for what he does to hurt the people they don’t like. And there’s a huge number of people who have never succeeded at anything in life except being white, so they want to make sure white supremacy stays alive and well since it’s all they have to feel superior to someone 

There’s also a lot of poor people who don’t view themselves as poor, but as temporarily embarrassed millionaires—this is more common among white conservative people who are poor, so they vote in the interests of the rich because they think they’ll be part of that group someday

There are a lot of factors but all of them boil down to people being stupid and hateful

Important to look at how they polled. Idk how this did but many polls use landline calling and those weird pop ups you see on YouTube. Not exactly super indicative of the voter base lol

Like my white trash Jerry Springer cousins who live in southern Ohio. There is no logical reason for them to support Trump, or any Republican for that matter, other than the reasons you mention. They also are anti-mask, even though one of them is a nurse.  Not the sharpest pencils in the box. And alas, these people procreate like rabbits and spawn more mini-mes. One cousin has like 9 kids – can't keep the numbers straight because he had two kids out of wedlock when he and his wife were on a break, and she got knocked up by someone else when they were on a break. As I said, Jerry Springer.
