Justice for E•MO•TION

Okay so; I relistened to E•MO•TION today and it reminded me of how amazing the album was. But I never understood (and still don't) know why E•MO•TION flopped. Even though it was ranked one of the best pop albums of the last decade, it still didn't get its recognition to be commercially recognized. While it did decent to the Billboard Hot 200, peaking at #16, the only single it got to chart was "I Really Like You", which is unfortunate since it only got to the bottom of the top 40 charts. Your Type, Boy Problems and the magnum opus herself, Run Away With Me has never charted nor were they even in the Bubbling Under.

It still doesn't occur to me because Run Away With Me came after I Really Like You, a top 40 hit that had a lot of hype.

Not only that, Making Most of the Nights and Favourite Colour are the most underrated tracks of the album, not even adding the disgrace of a choice to not put Love Again and Never Get To Hold You in the standard edition. *and adding Black Heart *

It’s a personalityless version of 1989, it got what it deserved.

I listened to the album because a Megarate earlier this year and it’s in my top 5 albums of all time & made me listen to Carly Rae’s discography.

She really should’ve been a MPG, but a lot of people had/have questionable taste....

Try the other way around. 1989 is a watered down version of 80s pop. Emotion wasn’t afraid to go all the way.

Thank you, I am absolutely not a hard core stan, but this diva puts out great pop songs on no budget. I just love good pop. 

I still love "cut to the feeling" like the same way it came out.

I blame I really like you for that, It ended the momentum for her next huge album, If runaway had the spot as the first single things would have been different

Hihi, i never said emotion had a bad production.  

As matter of fact, it had one of the best production that year. But the argument is how general public was going to relate to Carly. They didn’t. Cause the album didn’t offer us any interesting insights about Carly as a whole.

1989 in the other hand, didn’t have out-of-this-world kind of production but it gave us an interesting perspective of Taylor Swift. We related and that’s how it sells. Even SIO, a generic produced song, was fun and captured everything that makes Swift interesting.
