She was known as Gaga 2.0 because of her outfits, not her music.

But she was literally singing pop music just like gaga :toofunny: she only switched to full rap after it got cool to do it  :rip:

imagine thinking ms Petty had greater impact than Missy Elliot :lmao:

Gaga totally reset the pop music world, it was circling the drain. The only things really going on before Gaga showed up were Justin Timberlake and Rihanna and they weren't doing exciting things either, but had hits. Gaga came along and shook them all up and even passed them warp speed, everyone had to up their game or bow out, even Madonna was on notice, I think because of Lourdes being an early fan. Madonna stepped up again too.

The future's uncertain and the end is always near.

Taylor Swift’s transition to pop :enigma:

Gaga’s debut, vma performance, and TFM :staymad:

Nicki’s Anaconda :firega:

Rihanna releasing Loud, Diamonds, and Anti

I feel like 2008-10 really was something. I mean, just look at the artists that attended big award shows at that time... Those were the big Gaga years, but that was also the debut of Katy Perry, Bieber, Nicki, the Taylor Swift / Kanye scandal... The Loud era from Rihanna, also.

There was also something around 2013, with Beyoncé changing the release game, and the whole Miley stuff.

Finally, 2019 was also a great time for new artists, with Billie, Dua, Rosalía....

Girls Generation: introduced 9 members formation, introduced the Korean wave, shifted the public attention from boy groups  during 2000s to girl groups. Their rise to fame was equivalent to Sam Sung’s international expansion.

They and their whole career is the cultural reset of Korea and Asia‘s popular culture in 2010s.

Please ignore the spelling in username. I am a Beyonce stan afterall.

Bad Blood's music video, Adele with 25, Rihanna with ANTi, Gaga's 2 Oscar performances, Beyoncé releasing her magnum opus Lemonade, Gaga's SuperBowl, and Look What You Made Me Do.

Those were big moments in pop music but cultural resets not at all

Imo :
- Blond Ambition Tour taking pop shows to a higher level
Erotica by Madonna allowing women in pop music to have more sexual freedom
- The Fame by Gaga making pop music popular again + taking pop fashion, visuals, performances to a higher level
- Nicki Minaj making female rap popular
- Britney's Piece of Me residency making residencies the new trend for performers

No one thinks she had greater impact than Missy. No one was buying Nicki’s entire album just to hear “Starships”. Nicki did a great job of merging hip hop and pop which is evident in upcoming female rappers’ music. If you’ve heard her albums you’d know that most of her material is pure rap. The production alone doesn’t make it pop. Clearly you just wanna talk sh*t about her.

This shifted people’s concept of who she is. While some were not even aware of C2C, the Oscars is a worldwide known and followed event.

The world was witnessing a Phoenix rising from the ashes.
