We have 0 hindsight on Katy's era, and she's arguably at the lowest point of her career right now... The question still doesn't seem super fair. You don't shoot a dead horse.

Honey did you not know what Britney went through during her Circus era? So don’t bring up the “dead horse” metaphor here, try somewhere else :neyde:

Are you really asking people to choose between a 12 year-old album and one that isn't even out yet?

You say it as if smile stands any chance. Unreleased or not

Married the Night

Britney’s was not circus enough for me. It was like the La Croix version of a Circus.

She sold 4M copies of that record, and I remember it was a giant comeback and career high for her after her meltdown years. So no, I guess I don't.

Like I said in another post, you don't beat a dead horse... I really don't see the point of this thread, and wouldn't even see the point after Smile's release, that's true.

Britney about Circus:

“It’s about me as an entertainer – what I do, and what I bring to a show, is basically like a circus. I bring costumes and fun theatrical things that make people in awe."

Katy about Smile:

“I wrote the title track from the album when I was coming through one of the darkest periods of my life and had lost my smile. This whole album is my journey towards the light – with stories of resilience, hope, and love.”

(Both these quotes are from Genius)

I think theme wise Katy’s is better, it has a stronger sense of symbolism with the clown theme. Meanwhile Britney’s is a bit watered down to me, at least how she puts it. But I prefer Circus as a song over smile, just based off production and melody. Also you didn’t have to do Katy dirty with that picture. You knew what you were doing sis :bear:

Britney’s Circus >>

Katy’s doesn’t really appear very circus like to me, just lots of Clown imagery..and that’s about it.

Its like katy purposefully wants the public to look at her as a clown, such a poor branding choice for her especially given public perception of her right now. britney all the way.
