Franch Toast 27,756 Posted August 14, 2020 Share Posted August 14, 2020 I'm pretty happy with the streaming options I have at this point, though I might try a drive-in at some point if I feel like paying money to watch an old film on the big screen. I wouldn't feel safe watching a film indoors (anywhere other than New Zealand or Taiwan) for a couple of reasons. One, we know now that air conditioning systems circulate the virus beyond six feet, so social distancing only does so much good. Two, if people are going to be eating concessions, they're going to be removing their masks, especially in a dark theatre where it's hard to enforce unless there are going to be ushers patrolling the place. Being indoors around people removing their masks is a hard no for me. I've picked up take-out a couple of times since restaurants in my area opened for dine-in (with limitations), and let me just say that even the waitstaff isn't so great about mask hygiene. While waiting for my carry-out orders, at two different restaurants, I noticed that servers would push up their masks when they went to refill drinks, which means they are touching their filthy ass masks, breathing their germs all over your rinks then touching the masks again to put them back on and going back to your table to hand your your drinks and food. I do not expect servers at concession stands to behave any better, nor do I expect cinema staff to ensure that patrons keep their masks on when they're not drinking or eating.
