SeIena Gomez 1,609 Posted August 13, 2020 Apple, just hours after Epic Games announced a new direct-payment option for “Fortnite” to bypass the Apple App Store 30% “tax” on in-app purchases, has removed the game from its app store. In a statement, Apple said, “Today, Epic Games took the unfortunate step of violating the App Store guidelines that are applied equally to every developer and designed to keep the store safe for our users. As a result their ‘Fortnite’ app has been removed from the store.” Apple said that Epic had “enabled a feature in its app which was not reviewed or approved by Apple, and they did so with the express intent of violating the App Store guidelines regarding in-app payments that apply to every developer who sells digital goods or services.” In response to Apple’s removal of “Fortnite” from the App Store, Epic’s “Fornite” account on Twitter said it is premiering a new short film in the game’s Party Royale area called “Nineteen Eighty-Fortnite” — a snarky reference to Apple’s famous Super Bowl ad from 1984 directed by Ridley Scott. Epic Games has opened a lawsuit against Apple. 5 2 4 1 Quote Share
 Facebook Twitter

Knife 4,804 Posted August 13, 2020 (edited) I mean, both Apple and Epic Games are just after money in the end. I think what Epic Games is hoping that this will blow up in Apple's face and the public fallout over the removal of the game from the App Store will make Apple soften their policies. It won't. PopEmergency 1,118 Posted August 13, 2020 (edited) Sooo why exactly is Epic pissed? They are using the app store, owned by apple. The rules are in place for everyone without exceptions. They did something against these rules and are surprised? + it seems like a stunt, how can they have a video pretty much ready as response already? Epic is pissed because, in order to have an app on the app store, you need to give 30% of every in app purchase, and you can't mention the fact that you can buy, for example, V-bucks the fortnite money on the fortnite website for less. It’s complicated you can but the app licenses/certificates get revoked very often so the app doesn’t open 1 Quote Share
 Facebook Twitter
