What does American radio want? :saladga::saladga::saladga:  Shallow was initially slammed by GGD but look at it now.

I think you’re exaggerating quite a lot.

I don’t associate the song with a smash #1 hit that stays at the top of the charts for months, but I think it would be a fine single.

I wish she kept the demo version. The final version sounds like those generic remixes of pop songs you hear on the radio at 1am on a Saturday morning 😅

When we say it's GP friendly is because it's an easy song for locals to digest, it has a fun summer-y beat with simple yet meaninful lyrics AND it's catchy. If we are being honest, Free Woman is the only Chromatica song left tha could at least become a Top 30 or something. Alice would flop, 911 would flop, SFA would flop, even SC would flop cuz radios wouldn't play any of them, and I'm not saying they'd play FW cuz they barely spinned ROM and it had Ari, but still, both sonically and lyrically, the only song that makes sense as the next single is FW.

Easy for locals to digest music = basic/bland sounding music to ME. I'm not sure if that's what the GP wants from Gaga, none of her biggest hits with the GP have been bland/basic or the most easily digestible song on her album.

Pure pop music seems to be a hard sell in general right now. I think she'd have to release a song that sounds different/more exciting for it to attract attention and do decently.

Free Woman is the typical song that gaga herself loves, but nobody else does. like A-YO.

No, free woman is a bop.

I guess it's supposed to be the "safe" choice, but personally I think they (and some fans) worry too much about being safe.

I really don't think any of the songs on Chromatica are that weird

This is true. I love the concept of the song but the production is way too familiar, like literally copied and pasted from 2013 Swedish House Mafia’s overused production, with no effort on reinvention.

imo they did the song wrong by adding  a tired beat that we’ve heard before way too many times.

It will work as a single. Who cares about the gggGeeE PpppEeeEe..

The GP makes it all when it comes to hits, you can't care about what song will be a single if your don't pay attention to the GP:enigma:

I think if it had some cleaned up version of the original instrumental, it could be better (on the charts). I think as is, it just doesn't stand out all that much. It's nice and I like it, but a song like RoM kind of commands a listen (which you need for streaming and radio) whereas FW is like "you can listen to me if you'd like", if that makes sense :laughga: So it wouldn't really dive into the charts but more bellyflop or tread water. Again, I like the song so I'm just speaking of commercial viability here not personal opinion on its quality. I think SC is probably the best bet. It's pretty infectious and it's got a *great* chorus from Gaga plus I think her being on the crest of the KPop emergence in the US could position her nicely on the charts.

The version we ended up with on the album, isnt the worst, there's a lot I like about the song. But I don't think it should have ever been considered for a single at all

Free Woman is the Scheibe of Chromatica. It's a fan favorite that would never do well as a single. Let's leave it as a great album track.
