alsemanche 97,808
It's been 4 days since the devastating explosion that destroyed Beirut. Calls for a popular funeral have been circulating since yesterday and today, thousands have filled the streets of the capital and are marching for the victims of the explosions and against the government. Riots have also started in the area around the Parliament building. They're trying to break the barriers put up by the government in order to break into the parliament. Of course, the government mobilized riot police forces and they immediately started teargassing the protesters. The same government that has made absolutely no effort to help with investigating the explosion site, to look for any survivors or casualties, or to actually help the people who have lost everything in the explosion. The army and the police have issued statements asking people to calm down and stop the violence (their reminders sound more like threats). I will update this thread as the protests progress. The world needs to know what is happening to us. Soft, soothing, and succulent
