The original tweet says, "If anyone knows who this bitch is throw his info under this tweet.", with picture of an officer in blue mask and his badge covered. The original poster elaborated on his tweets, "In an attempt to identify a specific police officer who was befriending someone harassing me, I uploaded a photo." The tweet has no replies and was retweeted 5 times. The officer was not identified until he filed the charges. The police department used automated social media surveillance tools and tracked the location of all 5 twitter users and is now pressing charges against them. The original poster and the re-tweeters are charged with cyber harassment, a fourth-degree felony punishable by up to 18 months in jail. Yet when people receive literal death threats and hate speech, no action is taken by police in most cases. This sounds like police abusing the system to get selective treatment.
