One thing that annoys me about those stories about how her mental health was bad during the time they were producing Chromatica is that we actually know nothing about how she feels RIGHT NOW. I mean, girl are you still depressed? Are the panic attacks still happening? Stop talking in past tense all the time, tell us about the present :wtfga:

Well that could be the very reason why she went silent for two months. She might not have been in a good place.

Yea. Well to each their own. I appreciated the honesty on display, and found it really brave that she was so upfront with what she was going through. I wonder if there will be more behind the scenes type content shared, maybe in a different format. It’s hard to not think about the many interviews that were probably canceled where she may have gone into more details about different aspects of production.

Right, I always appreciate her honesty, but I guess I wanted them to get more specific. At the end of the day, it was mostly stuff we had heard before, and I didn't feel it added anything more than the Zane Lowe interview back in May. At the end of the day, you can't really discuss anything extensively in 2-minute bits of conversation...

Well, it's always the same thing with each era: she retrospectively explains how she was at the bottom of the hole and how this new music and her collaborators saved her life, implying she's in a better state of mind now. She does this every time. Which low-key makes me worried, because that basically means she actually goes back to crippling depression right after she releases something. Ngl, it's a bit discouraging to hear this same story each era. It's like she can't get out of this cycle.

I did enjoy the tidbits about the making of the album we'd never heard before (like Free Woman being considered as a title at some point), but as a whole I don't think it gave the extensive insight I was expecting. I enjoyed the mix but was a bit frustrated by the fact we couldn't get more than 2 minutes of conversation between the two of them without getting cut. I mean, I wanted content, an actual conversation ala Zane Lowe, and we ended up getting 90% of club music unrelated to Gaga, so... I can't say I was over the moon about it. I'm not throwing anyone under the bus or saying it was bad, just that we didn't learn much, hence my comment about not expecting anything special for the next episodes. But I'm glad you enjoyed it.

To be fair, I don't think anyone should have expected some huge super insightful interview. It is a radio station, we learned early on that there were going to be DJ mixes, plus we knew from the second it was announced that it was a multi part series.

I honestly think that the format was awesome. As many people on here know, I'm big about sharing new music and I think she probably is too. So many fans are trapped within this world of Gaga, that they don't bother exploring anything outside of Top 40. She used this platform to spotlight new music while still talking about the album.

I really liked that. Not to mention the content of what she was saying. This woman is so emotionally damaged and over her fans and the world's bullshit, it makes me so sad.

Not saying you arent but the world needs, more specifically her fanbase, need to stop being so damn mean to her. Is it going to take her hurting herself for people to get a clue?

Legit the SECOND I heard the lyrics to Fun Tonight I was like "that's not about a boyfriend, that's about her fans."

Wow I loved the mix. And loved the excerpts of convo interspersed. Everytime one of them ended with a soundbyte the music cranks up. Loved it!

how is that toxic? we wanted to hear about behind the scenes and cool info. we got 55 minutes of pathetic remixes out of a 59 minute show. sad

You got 20 minutes of conversation and a killer mix of music that inspired the record.

I mean, I certainly wasn't expecting Babylon Haus Labs version to drop today.... I had set my expectations pretty low, and I actually was interested in BloodPop's mix, because I'm interested in hearing the inspirations and influences behind the making of the record. What I was definitely expecting, tho, was more convo. You can't say that was an unbelievable expectation. Quite frankly, it was mainly music. I would have preferred the mix and the conversation to be two separate things, I guess.

Also, I'm always a bit divided about this statement regarding fans... Social media is toxic, that's the way it is. It's not about Little Monsters, or Barbz, or whoever's fanbase: there are good and bad people in every group, and unfortunately social media tends to showcase the worst parts. Of course, some people cross the line and should legit get a life and stop harassing the woman. But for others, asking for content and for new music actually comes from a place of love, because her art brings us joy and is the very reason why we're all here stanning. She worked towards that goal of having an army of devoted fans. She wanted this, and she certainly enjoys this when she needs to sell something.

Let's not assert we're toxic as soon as we express disappointment over not getting as much as we would like this era. Wanting new content from your fave isn't being selfish or unkind. Of course, there are good and bad ways to express those feelings, but I feel like there's a kind of stigma appearing around people being disappointed, or disagreeing with some of the things Gaga does, and those people tend to get shut out for being "negative"... At the end of the day, all feelings are valid if they come from a place of love. And I hope Gaga understands that and is not actually "over her fans" like some of you seem to believe.

I quite liked this, and don't get all the bloodpop slander. Curious to see what additional info we get over the coming weeks.

Finally listed everything. I really enjoyed it, always a delight to hear her simply talking. I knew she was in a troubled place during the time of making the album, but it was a hell process for her beginning to work on the album and slowly getting out of that state, finding a light, a direction, make sense of what she was doing and creating. Regarding BP, he was/is a tremendous friend to her, one of those people I think many of us would like to have has a friend at our side in times when we don't know where to go or do.

Super eager for the next one.

I’ve said for months. Chromatica is a Bloodpop album with Gaga in it tbh.

To say this is to reduce the entire album to its production, and completely disregard the most personal lyrics Gaga has ever written, as well as the melodies of the songs. Just because she had less of a hand in the production doesn’t mean it’s not hers. Otherwise a LOT of pop girls wouldn’t be able to call their albums “theirs” lmao.

She said herself she played the songs on the piano and they transferred the MIDI files onto the computer to create the instruments like synths, bass, etc. It's so sexist really that people would say that about Chromatica

Right, I get it. But you can't deny SL did establish a pretty clear concept of it as a place with tribes and some sort of mythology to it. We low-key expected a common storyline through the videos, and ROM didn't really further it. That's all I'm saying.

This...even making symbols and all...i expected there to be a song representing each tribe and their message to create the entire concept of Chromatica...but it was just for aesthetic??? Lol mess
