Lebanese government teargases protesters two days after explosion

Two days after the devastating explosion that destroyed Beirut, our murderous government is throwing teargas bombs on people protesting in front of the parliament. Some people have been arrested, others beat up. 

The same government has barely done anything to help clear up the streets from the rubble or rescue people from under the destroyed buildings. All that is being done is being done by the hands of the people themselves. We're literally being ignored by the people in power and being left to die under the debris. Almost three days into the disaster and the port hasn't been fully scanned and examined. There's literal corpses still lying there. But oppressing protests and using violence against them is immediately ordered and executed. 

Lebanese news channels are barely doing any coverage, be it for the explosion or the protests.

2020 is really bringing out the worst in humanity

Coming from a somewhat similar ME country (although Lebanon-or at least Beirut has always been significantly more "modern" than Turkey) I can absolutely relate with this. Explosions related to terrorist attacks were very often back in 2016 in Turkey and I remember govt' owned media branded the protesters as terrorists after a bomb exploded during a rally for peace in Ankara.

I really have nothing to offer but my sympathy as I can barely survive financially and the Turkish Red Crescent doesn't accept blood donations from Homosexual men. I have struggled with PTSD for years to come and now that Turkey is economically crumbling and people are openly calling for Sharia law and LGBTQIA people are declared as enemies of the state, my mental health has been deteriorating for months. 

I burst into tears as I watched the explosion in Beirut on TV. I am also from a city on the coast of Eastern Mediterranean, I have had so many friends that originated from Levant and I study Late Antique Eastern Mediterranean so Lebanon is a country I am romantically involved with. 

I know nothing I said help you but I can't help but say I have been thinking about you guys since the explosion and you have a friend if you feel like venting off.

I totally understand your situation  I hope we can one day leave this region and go somewhere decent, even if it won't be easy. I honestly have nothing left to stay for here except my family and friends. Everything else is absolutely not worth it in any way.

Small tragic update: they just uncovered two bodies from under the rubble, left there for over 54 hours because the government didn't bother dispatching any proper emergency teams and is relying on Russian and French teams to look for the missing people.
