Those free apps, games, don't need all my contacts. I don't like them having unlimited access to all my files as well. It's either permission to read and write any file, or remove the app. Sometimes I remove a new app rather than agree to permissions. That's the only choice, give permissions, or remove the app. This needs to change for all apps. You're okay with the most powerful government official of your nation attempting to silence people and you're cool with it because you don't like the app. His little vendetta has nothing to do with privacy, but is just a strike against China and the people who booked tickets to his rally. This is so evident with him not wanting a U.S. company to take over operations for U.S. operations. Next it'll be Snapchat to cut down trafficking and child ****ography. Then Facebook and Twitter for its fake news and anti-American propaganda. And at some point we're all sitting there just like China, unable to even play an online game. Even before the iOS 14 beta update proved that TikTok was snooping your keyboard information (and then gave 2 completely different explanations why), security and privacy have been a huge criticism of TikTok. This has zero things to do with silencing people, getting “revenge” on China, etc. (although I wouldn’t doubt he is pressed to do it especially because it’s China). There will be an app that’ll replace it as soon as it’s gone. One which won’t sell your data to a hostile foreign government (but will likely find some way to annoyingly monetize it, of course).
