Head Empty 25,209
Let's put our own needs as fans to the side for a second, and consider this: Music and art are fickle things to discuss. Tastes and interpretations can vary to an extreme amount. Because of this, criticism on creative endeavors almost seems futile, as there really isn't a 'right' or 'wrong'. And as we all probably know, popularity and reception don't always indicate what a lot of us see as 'quality' So where does this leave the artists and - in this case - Gaga? I think it's safe to assume that she always wants to become a better artist. But is 'random' criticism from fans and critics at all useful to her? Or is it just depressing noise? Whenever any Gaga project recieves mixed responses, a lot of people claim that "We should let her know we don't like it". But will that really achieve something substantial? Or will it just make her feel bad if she sees it? In the past Gaga has stated that she only listens to the opinions of people that she knows and respects, which would include mentors, collaborators, family, friends and maybe peers. Which, in my opinion, is the healthy way to go. So that leaves the question in the title. I know that we're oftentimes tempted to vent our negative opinions. But do we actually believe that Gaga is receptive to general online feedback? Is it helpful in her path as an artist? dynamite 59,822
Genuine, constructive criticism is probably drowned out by obsessive stans and hate comments so I'd be surprised if she read it let alone listened to it. Well on some level she "has to", if she ever goes on social media. And I'm sure she loves to see it when people are celebrating her work, which automatically comes with the risk of running into criticism. Born in Chromatica 7
I doubt Gaga would even read the criticism from the public, since unfortunately, most would either be "Fadga sucks" or "it's over" or "Flop". But if she is to read the criticism, I'm sure she would try to take on the criticism if it has substance which I would think include connection to music, imagery, musical arrangement, genere styles etc. But I think Gaga would probably choose to take criticism who those who are in the industry rather than fans as it is probably better for her own mental health. In terms of if it is helpful for her as an artist, probably not, as many do not have the intention of helping her grow, but they just want likes or to appeal to her while than her art. ShesAMess 1,560
That’s why in social media when it’s about someone else’s work/art in my opinion if you don’t have anything nice (or constructive) to say just don’t say anything cause even though I don’t think she is really looking for feedback to her work from social media I know that she sees some of the hate dressed as constructive criticism that is thrown on her way by her fans It should be the same as if someone here posts their own drawing/painting/music for others to see you don’t go there and just blatantly comment ”i hate it” as criticism cause it doesn’t bring anything but bad feelings for the artist so why is it ”okay” to do it to Gaga? Galvon 1,868
I believe Gaga once said that she mostly tries to stay away from social media, and only checks out herself on the internet when she had just done a live performance on tv or something like that.
