Should Gaga have released the OG LG5?

Gaga likes to make sense of her releases in the context of her albums. A song like Brooklyn Nights is great, but wouldn't have worked at all on ARTPOP - both lyrically and sonically. So sometimes it's best to kill your darlings and decide that it wasn't meant to be. A great song, but not good enough for that moment in time.

I'm sure that if she was sitting on a true masterpiece, she'd find a way to release it. But I fully expect that she doesn't have any of those laying around from previous eras.

That's all lovely and I agree. Eras are eras, but it's not pertinent to the topic at hand. This is about whether or not she should've released "LG5", not "Let's shoehorn this into another era and disrupt it"

Personally I think LG5 had a lot of dark stuff. It's basically confirmed. Stuff she probably still hasn't worked through or is trying to work through. She probably caught herself and needed some grounding and Joanne happened. In that regard, I hope it never sees the light of day if she doesn't want it to.

 

However as a messy Gaga fan who relishes in her dark music... I'm like **** YES GIVE US TFM 2.0

You have to think she may think on "music not the bling" but that's not the thought of her record label... when some of her papers leaked there was a clause saying she could not release new music X months from her latest album release, that's just one example of how she's not that free to just release music whenever and in any way she wants.

 

Also, if she released LG5 and then released Joanne supporting only the later as an era, the meltdowns would be even bigger than what we're having right now with no-promo Chromatica

I’m pretty sure if she already spent the money recording the songs and paying people they would allow her to just drop it. Without it released they’re making no money at all. 
 

I’m completely fine with no promo and I think most people would be if she actually communicated that. If she said she wont be doing any promotion for the album and she wants it to speak for itself. Thats all anyone asking for. Its the absolute dead silence and how she is blatantly ignoring Chromatica that is making people mad. She’s not even interacting on social media. You can do streaming parties And **** on social media that legit cost no money to run.

I really don't understand the obsession with the OG LG5. Can y'all just let it go?  

Same thing with Frankensteined and all of the other unreleased songs from that era. Y'all are only excited because RedOne hyped it up. Like...he worked on the damn thing  What's he going to say? "Yeah, actually none of it was that good, so that's why we cancelled the project." Of course he's going to hype it up.

Y'all have this imaginary idea of what LG5 sounds like, as if it was going to be the album of the century, but the truth of the matter is that we just don't know. Could it have been an amazing, banger album? Sure. Could it have been the worst piece of sh*t ever? Sure. We just don't know. 

Look at Chromatica. It's one of her best albums (in my opinion) and yet half of y'all probably don't even listen to it anymore because you're "bored" of it.

Also, Gaga signed for ASIB in August 2016, 7 months into working on Joanne. We all know Warner Bros was iffy about casting her from the start. They made that screen test and she changed the direction on the album to prove to them she could write intimate country songs.

But it helped transform her image. That's why it "saved" her. C2C also saved Gaga, in many ways, yet it didn't sell well (compared to her other albums). Joanne was a stepping stone for the public that allowed them to really embrace ASIB, and guess what, it worked. 

MR is also up there with being a hit almost everyone knows. I wouldn't say it's "Shallow" levels of success, but the SuperBowl really pushed it forward to becoming a song that a lot of the GP know and love. 

Whether y'all like it or not, Joanne really did change her career, and for the better.

I think her silence is mostly due to covid.  It really bothers her greatly that so many people are dying.  Until the world isn't such a mess due to covid, I doubt we will hear much from Gaga.  I view Haus Labs as an entity of itself and goes about it's business selling products and uses promo that was mostly recorded before covid.

Personally, I'm fine with the dead silence, but I know I'm in the minority.

I also feel like that's the main reason for this blackout. And I'm okay with it, I'm not like mad or something but I do miss her ngl

You said it perfectly.  We all miss her so much. 

Aside from contractual obligations with her label, etc, I think she will follow her own feelings and pursue her own dreams.  Fans all want different things from her and that's a problem.  She is so multi-talented and has the ability to excel at everything she tries, so we never know what she will do next.  I would be amazed if she doesn't do Broadway someday, as there are not many dreams left that haven't already been fulfilled.  When you think about her life, it's astounding:  Acting, Vegas, Super Bowl, performing in jazz clubs when she wants, and was hugged by Julie Andrews ffs.  I just hope now she will do what makes her happy.  After all she has given, and after all she has gone through, she deserves one thing:  Happiness.

Let the "original LG5" and ARTPOP ACT II die. They were never a thing. Just like with BTW and ARTPOP and Chromatica, there were original concept songs and the direction changed. I don't see anyone whining about losing the og LG6 or LG3.
