Same accomplishment of M4A without forcing people to give up private insurance if they don’t want to. A public option is fundamentally flawed because it divides between rich and poor. When you do that, it is only a matter of time before politicians completely dismantle it. I mean it literally has already partially happened with the ACA. These stunts are only to protect the insurance companies. There is no other excuse.

Because then the rich will put all the money in their tier of healthcare, and leave crumbs for the working people’s healthcare. Also, that system will cost more money to maintain bc of the two tiers. It's a country were the rich have socialism to stay rich, and the poor have capitialism. Here is a qoute from the guardian: "To the conservative mind, the specter of socialism conjures up a society in which no one is held accountable, and no one has to work for what they receive. Yet that’s exactly the society Trump and the Republicans are promoting for the rich. Meanwhile, most Americans are subject to an increasingly harsh and arbitrary capitalism in which they’re working harder but getting nowhere, and have less security than ever. They need thicker safety nets and deserve a bigger piece of the economic pie. If you want to call this socialism, fine. I call it fair"

Big companies got to loot the FED while the people got crumbs. Corporate socialism would be fine if fickle-down reaganomics actually existed 💀 But in a consumer spending based economy, not giving money to the citizens will tank the economy. Yet republicans are stupid enough to actually try and do that. If things don’t change within 45 days, they’re just gonna LOSE so bad in 2020 it’s gonna be such a laugh 😭

Pennywise 36,080
I swear Americans don't deserve to be rid of Covid. Y'all will go against universal healthcare, AND throw covid parties, AND protest about having to wear a mask for five ****ing minutes? I used to think my country had the [redacted] people in the world, but apparently not. Y'all take the throne. So long ggd, it was nice while it lasted. It's definitely considered better than the UK and Italy, which are both single payer. I get your point, but I'd rather have something that can pass—like multi payer universal healthcare—than something that seems like it's beyond reach. Anything can pass if there’s enough politicians who vote for it, and there’s enough pressure for it. But elected officials constantly choose the opposite of what the people who voted them in for. That’s why I’m for primarying corporate democrats who prevent it. Any are at risk, even Nancy Pelosi. M4A unfortunately is dead for now... but the fight won’t end. Um, no. Republicans in the US are now extremely far-right batshit crazy, and they haven't lost any votes because Republicans always fall in line, no matter how disgusting their candidates are. You won't win their vote. Just do the right thing already. The majority of them aren’t though. That’s why groups like The Lincoln Project, Gen Z GOP, and Republicans for Biden exist. Because a lot of Republicans are moderate and will support Biden because of it. Extremism breeds ineffectiveness and egotism. Moderation brings about cooperation and the ability to deal-make. The latter is far more successful in the long run. That’s why all of our President have been moderates. Obama, Bush, Clinton, Bush Sr, even really Trump is center-right (he supports fair trade and moderate regulation, endorsed marriage rights, has appointed 2 SCOTUS justices who have swung liberal on decisions). He’s far from the “extreme right” that is people like Ted Cruz or Rick Perry. I got drunk

Except, as I have pointed out at least a hundred times on this forum, that when you create a government public option and keep private insurance, you are going to split the risk pools. When you do that what you are going to do is inevitably bankrupt the public option because the sick and poor people will opt in for the public option and others will still cling to their private insurance. And when that happens, the premiums for the public option will have to go up in order to remain solvent. And then you get public option insurance at private insurance prices. You get back to square 1. The fact remains that the only reason the insurance industry exists is to profit off of sick people. By eliminating the profit motive and providing healthcare free at the point of service funded through progressive taxation is the only way to eliminate administrative waste and to lower the cost per capita for healthcare.
