ARTPOP isn't even experimental since the sounds were rejects or bought tracks from other producers. Very little was organically created. And while Chromatica does share the same concept as ARTPOP, its less confusing and the tracks were organically created during the recording process. Chromatica is full of tracks that are "risky". There isn't one track on there thats safe. I'd also say BTW too, purely because of the different styles and genres within the album, and even tracks. ChromaticRaccoon 1,761
I remember not long ago, watching a producer react to ARTPOP. According to him, every song on ARTPOP was really different from what an artist would normally do, said he'd never heard anything like it. So IDK if that counts, but my vote goes to ARTPOP

We can both agree she didn’t go experimental like Bjork, Sophie, or etc. But experimented with different sounds, vocals, genres, and many other things. I define BTW as more powerful and risk taking. I think in general the fanbase confuses "experimental" with "different than what's on top 40 radio". Let Gaga go full Bjork!

GagaEnigma 1,474
ARTPOP is certainly Gaga's weirdest piece of music, and it's f*cking amazing The only correct answer here

Jose P 23,341
Anyone that says ARTPOP is experimental has never heard experimental music lol. ARTPOP is literally standard 2013 EDM, far from experimental. Just bc it’s loud doesn’t mean it’s experimental

ARTPOP was nothing experimental (minus Swine and the Aura instru), all the songs were rather safe and every instru could have belonged to a DJ album (it doesn't mean it's bad, it just means it's just another mainstream EDM instru). EDM was already done, redone and fading when Gaga released ARTPOP, nothing groundbreaking BTW on the other hand is a true musical experiment because it doesn't really belong to any genre. They successfully managed to craft a sound patchwork, blending tastefully pop, rock, synthpop, industrial beats and even operatic elements. They managed to create unpolished, raw, dirty songs on a pop artist record. And all of that is the experimental aspect of it.
