"Jarring"? I think you got A-Yo and SFA mixed up:ohwell:

To everyone that is or will be saying something about Joanne, A-Yo, and Country music, Gaga has never claimed to be a country singer. She makes pop music that sometimes incorporates americana, sometimes folk, sometimes country.

Country music of today bothers purists like myself not because it's pop country, but because it is pretending to be something other than pop country. Songs by Maren Morris and Sam Hunt, for example, are pop songs with elements of country, not the other way around.

To go back to the Trader Joes thread, food that is 80% Mexican and 20% American influenced can be called Mexican food, but not American food, if that makes sense

I thought that was just a joke but I wouldn't be surprised if they thought it would be a bigger hit than it was.

I was doing some analysis a while back and quantitatively A-YO is the highest scoring song out of Gaga's discography if you consider danceability, energy, and musical positivity (how cheerful/happy the song is).  I just thought that was interesting.

I would have thought Edge of Glory would get higher for those categories

Before the release of Joanne there was a user here who already listened to the album and said A-Yo was going to be the next "Shake it off".

The same one of Come to Mama pijamas?

I can post the rankings if it would be interesting to people.

I was trying to see if I could reverse engineer how they chose the album singles. I did something similar with her tweets once. It's always interesting to me to try to figure out how much of an artist's decisions are data-driven.

I really don't like this song and I actually wish I did. I gave it several chances to grow on me but got nothing..

Remember when she went on a talk show and performed A-Yo like 8 times? :bear:

That was on James Corden, right?

Anyway, I love A-YO, especially her snarl. :huntyga: I always thought the remark about it being the next Uptown Funk was made in jest since Mark produced both.
