why did she want to become a pop star?

Maybe when she was younger she wanted that but now she realises how fickle pop can be. People can change their minds.

It’s clear her heart wasn’t in it when she made Chromatica (evident by her tweeting why she chose to become a popstar + Bloodpop having to push her to make music).

This is bullsh*t. :ladyhaha:

I'd like her do make her own kind of pop. Maybe make an album with only one producer focused on her ideas without thinking of charts.

I would be interesting if she went for an alternative genre route as opposed to the typical campy pop music she's good at doing. She kinda dipped her toe in that pond with ASIB and Joanna but didn't really get there,  I'd love something with a more serious aesthetic.

I’m literally paraphrasing things that have been said by her and Bloodpop.

I think the creative process was a struggle but she ultimately created a product she is passionate about and loves very much. So that argument is kind of invalid. :triggered:

Others have already suggested this but I’m starting to think they may be correct in saying that Chromatica is her farewell to pop music, i.e. she is ending her career the same way it started: dance music.

Think about it. She’s come full circle. She is the sine curve. The album has healed her and it speaks for itself. It doesn’t need translating.

This could signal she is going back to her roots- her first loves are jazz and film and i think she will focus on that this decade. Maybe even conquer  Broadway.

But - I think (and bow down to pray) she will one day go full on Janis Joplin on us and give the world a hard rock album, but not for a while.

Omg this needs to stop!! :interestinga:

She always speaks about how everything she does is her authentic self and she stands by it.

If her heart wasn’t in Chromatica, she wouldn’t of released it. :saladga:

Gaga has a lot more to offer than pop music, especially dance-pop. Like... we’re on her 5th “campy electronic dance-pop” album now. :bear: It sucks that we have to look to her non-solo album tracks to really get a feel of her non pop music. I just hope she’s not actively being forced away from releasing non commercial and non pop music because it’s obvious she likes working on it (we’re always reminded of her working behind the scenes, like when she wrote a jazz song). I know she wouldn’t release something she doesn’t stand by, but again I hope that she’s not just putting out commercial pop music to keep her fanbase or because her label wants her to make more money. Gaga if you’re reading this please release Paradise :poot: and your PC music with Sophie lol.

I don't think it's because she hated this era but it feels like she has less connection to it compared to other albums. She didn't even produced songs other than interludes which i think is very shocking tbh.

Also she is a mainstream artist so she just can't do whatever she wants.Interscope knows what her fans  want so i feel like this era kind of happened to silence the fans who wanted pop non stop.

Taylor is literally the definition of blandness...

And if you can't hear emotion in Sine From Above, 1000 Doves, Replay and Enigma you should go check your ears:awkney:
