There was literally no build-up towards her causing genocide. Yes she had become more violent, but only towards people who personally opposed her. In the last season they genuinely went from "I'm insecure and lonely" to "oh well time to murder thousands of innocent people who aren't a threat to me at all, and destroy the place that I have been searching for for almost a decade". And she had already won Happiness will never last, darkness comes to kick your ass... ᵃˢˢ 🕺

I mean, isn't it good when there's someone who's ready to burn everyone and everything down? We need drama! It was amazing. The problem is that they portrayed her as this huge savior and heroine, which means that most viewers were rooting for her. And everything that led up to her downfall was executed in a rushed manner so when it happened it wasn’t enough to convince viewers that it made sense, even though it did. It wasn’t executed as well as it should have been You should watch the show tho

And she had already won There WAS build up, it just happened over the span of a short amount of episodes. And there was definitely foreshadowing of what she was capable of on earlier seasons. She unleashed her rage and went full Targaryen, she decimated the city to assert her dominance. Yes she won, but it didn’t feel like a victory to her, so she went in. The problem is that the execution wasn’t very good and there should have definitely been a whole season building up to that moment.

killme89 1,415
Tbh what dany did wasn’t madness , it was a cold calculated wise decision. She knew that her life would never be safe again. After Sansa let Jon’s secret out , she knew (like she said when she told jon) that there would be no going back. Varys was already trying to get her killed and he sent many letters all through Westeros. Even if dany wouldn’t have burned them all she would have never been safe. She had no love in Westeros. She saved them and all she and her people got back was racism and xenophobia from Westeros. She knew the only way to send a dont **** with me message was to “burn them all” to keep them in line. Like Robert Baratheon said “you think it’s peace keeping the realm? Is fear , fear and blood” in the end she did what any queen or king would have done. Also it was executed horribly. You can’t go for someone saving the world to wanting to burn it in 2 eps because her friends died. Justice for Dany. Targaryen > starks
killme89 1,415
Also it’s actually been confirmed that in the original scripts dany doesn’t just randomly burn Kings landing , what originally happened was she sets off a set of wildfire and burns the entire city by mistake trying to kill cersie after they told her not to because that might happen. Tbh to me that made more sense than her randomly zigzagging throughout KL...but not sure why they decided to scrap that idea. Emelia herself didn’t even know till the actual premiere of the last episode.
Siena 6,268
I’m still not over what they did to her, but I’m too exhausted to say anything else about it since I’ve already spent months ranting about it
