It is essential to Iberian Peninsula and her songs are entirely written and sung in Spanish (the criteria for Billboard's Latin charts). There are many influences in flamenco for sure, but modern-day Latin music is very influenced by different genres such as Caribbean music, reggae, reggaeton, pop, electronic and hip hop as well. While Latin America is a big part of the Latin world, there is Latin music and culture outside of it. I'm sure you have a different concept of what "latin" means, but in the US-American context and within Latin America, we conceptualize latinidad as specific to Latin America, excluding any country in Europe. Particularly within the US, this distinction is important due to the way that peoples and their cultural products (such as music) are racialized.
