Are Richys choreos too complicated?

I've been thinking about this a lot ever since Marry The Night, and it has two sides.

When Laurie-Ann Gibson was the choreographer she made iconic dances. Dances that we still know and love like BR, Telephone and Judas. They were pretty simple dances that most of all learned within a few days (I believe). They were dances that even the GP could learn easily, and celebrities like Miley did on video. They where a signum of Gaga. I don't think even 10% of the hardcore fan base of us know the choreo for Applause, John Wayne or Rain On Me. 

The second thing, are these complicated dances more or less hurting on Gaga? To me, they just seem way more hurting than the earlier ones.

I don’t dance and have no interest in learning the choreo anyway. The purpose of a dance routine is for Gaga and her team to do, not me

I still don't like his choreos

Yeah i agree. They’re cool and he’s talented but LAG’s had a certain x factor to them. The verse choreo’s were usually a bit more complex and then the choruses were simple but really effective, and it mirrored the music in that sense. I think Richy’s could use some editing

They are just weird, and not in a good/artistic way. Sometimes they just look like random arm movements. I don't care about dance routines though.

I think he makes the choreo easier these days because of Gaga's health and body conditions because before that his choreos were better. I don't care as long as my Queen is dancing and is happy.

I think Gaga would let Richy know if the choreo was too demanding on her body. But I do agree that a lot of the choreo isn't as memorable as Judas or anything preceding it.

It probably comes down to Gaga just enjoying the more "hardcore" choreo, such as most of Stupid Love and Rain On Me. If she didn't like it, she'd be vocal enough to change it up. In the end she's the one in charge, not Richy.

Some of them. Applause, Guy, Stupid Love and Rain On Me were ok. But the others were not only complicated but also very messy.

I think he really stepped up on Chromatica tho, I love both Stupid Love and Rain On Me choreos.

I think Richy as her long-time choreographer must know her body and how it moves, so I wouldn’t say it’s hurting Gaga 

but i would dare to say the choreographies post Laurieann are definitely more complex, I could do the dances by looking at the music video (clear and impactful to the eyes of the viewer) 

but now learning from his tutorials it requires to be fast and precise, but it’s a fan perspective, I don’t know much about the technicality of dance, i enjoy it more

Sometimes Richy's choreos are too busy and frenetic for me to find highly appealing, especially in the hand and arm motions. It's like he wants EVERY part moving and filling ALL space a bit too often. Sometimes it works for me, sometimes it doesn't. I guess it's not necessarily complicated or difficult, just -busy-.

I don’t think complicated means bad, the same way minimal doesn’t always translate to  good.
