Also, one of the major ways people will accept those of the community is if they're in media and normalized. If they appear as normal people. Also don't bring in RETROACTIVE examples please. There is a difference between creating a character and changing a character after the fact. J.K. Rowling, by all technical standings, is a meh writer. But she's a great storyteller and world builder. Also would Harry Potter have been as popular as it was if it was known the entire school was ran by a homosexual? I mean, yes, Harry Potter did survive the edges of the Satanic Panic but a gay headmaster? Nah. But as I said, retroactive examples should not be brought into this. Tokenism is a bad thing yes. And I don't need a character to be gay in order to relate to them. And I know there's little point in representation if the character is a stereotype. BUT, we should still be in media. Because we exist. It's not like we're not gay beyond the bedroom. It effects our lives and outlooks. While not everything I write is gay, a good part of it is.
