gumzy3000 7,344
I know COVID is serious and my heart goes out to all the essential workers but I do have to get this out of my chest - COVID destroyed the Chromatica era because there was so much potential. I am listening to Chromatica right now and I am crying because Gaga made a masterpiece and she worked so hard to make us stans happy but she can not do live shows to showcase it or make a proper music video for a single. I mean, she could have played at festivals and while the album did have a big impact, I think it could have been 3x bigger if there was no COVID. trolly troll troll
dopega 3,733
I'm actually glad the album itself wasn't an instant smash so it can shine with a new single and promotion plan later this year Gaga's albums always have longertivity so I bet it's run isn't over yet
Doot 2
While I do think she will obviously be returning to promote it, I agree with you. Chromatica has taken serious things from us such as lives, and it's taken smaller things like the album we waited years for. Like me...I don't even understand how the music or lyrics of the album have anything to do with the title or Chromatica concept. She never got to show us that. I know more about a virus than I do about my faves album.

The album is critically acclaimed and just as importantly it’s also liked by the gp. Since it’s a more light, fun album for all ages this is important. It’s still doing well and she can keep putting out singles without burning out. For instance Dua Lipa’s Don’t Start Now and the Weekend’s Blinding Lights have overshadows every other subsequent song that came out from that album. I think Gaga can keep getting number 1s off Chromatica if she doesn’t over-sell and overexpose herself. And she could add additional tracks at start of next year leading up to her tour

Bloodpop confirmed that multiple versions of the songs exist in ”the world of chromatica” so I guess they have planned it all out
Musicisfreedom 5,837
I agree and understand your point, but I wish more fans could be respectful to Gaga and her team right now. Also, as someone who is a janitor at a warehouse where someone died of Covid last week, it's getting so tiring hearing some LMs so focused on promo and getting so upset about what Gaga is aand isn't doing. Like I almost envy those fans, because I'm literally scared for my life every day at work. I'm really happy to see this opinion shared like this, in a more understanding way that acknowledges it isn't that serious, and that it isn't Gaga's fault.. Because some fans have been making me so mad lately. As for me, right now, listening to the album is enough. Because at least that can bring me some happiness and light. Chromatica has really been my happy place and positive place. Bitch I'm Madonna

I know she will expand on this later on, but she did explain what Chromatica is at the interview with Zane Lowe and also at the Spotify playlist. Chromatica is a mental state where she make sense of things. It’s how she deals with love, heartbreak, depression, fame, drugs, and the state of the world as it is. The term “Chromatica” comes from the chromatic scale, which is a musical scale with twelve pitches, each a semitone above or below its adjacent pitches. Music is how she deals with things. Music is where she finds love, heartbreak and healing. It’s a scale of things. A “sine”. I actually think it’s her most powerful concept up to date. Sorcerer 12,507
Chromatica could've done better, but it still did well and will probably do better once everything normalizes. This is a dance-pop record after all. I think only Dua Lipa is succeeding with that right now, and she's a young artist. We just have to wait, be patient, and respect Gaga's choices. Whispering 18,865
The situation is going to continue to deteriorate in the US. The Fall and Winter will see a second wave and a continuation of the first wave. There isn't going to be more promo while the country is in lockdown. This is it, enjoy the music! Be happy you have new music to listen to during the Pandemic.

808Dream 106
Covid-19 is affecting the world in so many ways that album sales is the very last thing I can think about. With millions of people falling like flies or losing their job I'm just glad we're able to enjoy a very good pop album while locked at home. Music is a little light for a lot of people through these massively tough times, who gives a damn about sales or chart rankings
Benji 20,113
It has effected promo but it’s still doing well; it outsold the top ten combined when it debuted in the UK and Rain On Me has been HUGE here since release. I’m not sure how promo heavy the album was going to be, there wasn’t much for Stupid Love so I wouldn’t hold out for this to be like a Gaga era before... everything focuses on streams now. I think it will properly end with the Chromatica Ball (August 2021). We know she has a movie to release in November 2021 (the Gucci film) so she has to shoot it BEFORE the Chromatica Ball (aka before July). She probably will need to study the script by the end of the year and start shooting it as soon as after the Grammy Awards (Feb 2021). Also if she needs like two months to rehearse for the TCB, then she has to finish shooting by like May 2021. If this is an awards kind of movie, she should be very busy campaigning for the Gucci role like she did for A Star is Born up until the 2022 Oscars.
