YourWhiskyMouth 4,014
Yeezus and ARTPOP are really musical parallels in many ways. Both came out in 2013, following massively successful albums from both artists. Both had an uncharacteristically abrasive and new sound for both artists. Reactions from fans and critics were immediately polarizing and swayed negatively, with many arguing that both artists lost their touch and lost their sound. Both underperformed commercially compared to the artists previous work. Both had visually stunning and chaotic tours. And over the years, both became fan favorites due to how underrated, experimental and poorly treated the albums were by casual fans and the media. Now they are generally revered my music critics as some of the artists’ best work and are the albums diehard fans claim to love the most. They’re actually cool to like now when most people would not be caught dead vouching for these albums in the first few years they were released. Sonically they are great to listen to together in a playlist and I highly recommend it.

high culture 2,137
My favorite album of his! My favorite memory from college was at my friends birthday party, my friends family was in town including his grandparents and they have an RV so they were staying in that. Middle of the party I’ve had a little bit too much and Hold My Liquor by Kanye comes on and I’m doing my performance to it kinda like voguing but slower and weirder; and his grandma comes walking through the house while everyone is watching me. I was 19, drunk, and had no shame.
