Well, I can def argue NRO, HIH, and Small talk were classic Katy songs that people just aren’t here for(people being her old tween girl fanbase). These new songs (never worn white, daises, smile) are all trash tbh.

why does it seem like with every step closer to this album release she is becoming more and more unpopular?

is someone trying to completely destroy her career? She should rather postpone this album release and make a comeback in a few years when the world is ready for her....

She ended her own career herself. Who needs to end something that ended years ago? :green:

The moment the GP moves on to younger stars you don't have enough fans or loyal base to support your career

Other women in music like Gaga, Taylor Swift or Beyonce for example can last because they have big loyal fan bases. Even if the GP totally moves on they can still have some degree of success even if they aren't topping the charts all the time anymore

This brings me to Kesha... Her fan base is extremely loyal, yet not big enough to keep her as big as she was a decade ago. But while Katy may come across as too try-hard, Kesha doesn't; she's in her own lane evolving with her sound, experimenting and taking risks... Yet it's still not enough, the GP has already moved on

I think Kesha is an interesting case because from my perception her trial with Dr. Luke and the comeback with Praying are what made her fan base so loyal. Yet it also alienated her from the GP. And then the complete rebranding away from club hits to a more stripped down sound with Rainbow.

She's been beating a dead horse for a while now... Ngl, it's a bit disheartening. I hope she grew up since Witness and won't make a big deal out of it if her album flops.

I didn’t even realise she had a new song out, is it being promoted as an official single or just promo for the album release?

Yes, like she promised she would a few months ago... and yet here we are. I don't know if it's her or her label that don't know when to stop, but they clearly haven't learnt their lessons from Witness or the plethora of singles she released lately. I literally don't know why they keep pushing the same formula: if she went from one of the top pop stars to someone who can barely crack the top 40 in just a couple of years, they really should take a good look at their strategies because something is quite obviously not working. Their try-hard energy, and her whining left and right about Witness not living up to expectations and craving a new hit are major turnoffs regardless of the quality of the music itself.

Guys, let’s not act surprised. The song isn’t good....at all.. maybe there’s other songs on the album that’ll be better.

I think the song is cute, but even if the song wasn't good, that's no reason why it didn't do well. There are plenty of sh*tty songs on the Top 100 right now :awkney:

The rollout for this album is just a mess. You can't have Daises be your "lead single" to start this era, but then also include NRO, which debuted over a year ago. At this point people just think Katy's releasing standalone singles.

I don’t get why her popularity dropped so much? Yeah witness was her ARTPOP era but it still wasn’t even anywhere near as bad as gaga had it. And yeah she had had a few flop singles post CTTR but every singer has had those and they still seem to be okay. I don’t get what happened.

She really needed some time off... And here she is, rushing into an era that will make her regret ever complaining about Witness. Such a stupid move, not to mention it won't do any good to her mental health or self-esteem. I legit worry for her tbh, because she clearly proved she cannot take a flop.

Ke$ha wasn't big enough for enough years to build as big of a base as Taylor or Gaga or Beyonce tho. Building a solid fan base takes time. 2 years of high popularity isn't enough tbh unless ur so unique that u get a lot of people gravitate towards u

But aritsts like Gaga or Taytay or Bey, they will always be able to at the very least fill small to medium sized arenas and have albums that enter charts provided they don't do something really stupid to loose their base

Katy has a name that will be recognized for many years to come but her support at this rate without a rebound will be virtually non existent

A song that debuts at 120 Spotify globally (198 in her home country USA) is beyond tragic.

I'm not shading, I love her. But this truly is one of the biggest collapses I've seen of a super star in just a few years ever

I do not understand why Katy's label pushed for an album right now. Daises etc could have waited and it probably would have done better. I don't remember her having a definite album release date before covid 19 hit or anything.
