JRCF29 8,230
Okay, so Buzzfeed has just published a Tik-Tok related article (so I guess you could say that it's pushing Chinese malware too ) but anyways it's about some new "call me" or "on the phone" signal allegedly used by Gen Z. I don't think that watching the Tik Tok video via the article poses a security risk but just in case, a breakdown. Original: Thumb and pinkie finger out, one up one down, mimicking an old-school receiver, pressed against ear. "New": Hand flat against ear, mimicking a smart phone. I'm 17, I have never and would never think to use this symbol. No one that I've ever interacted with in the real world has used this. I just asked my younger sister to make a phone symbol and she did the original; then she said some people do the flat one. Anyone under 18 doesn't really talk on the phone anyway unless it's to our parents. https://www.buzzfeed.com/kristatorres/hand-gesture-phone?origin=web-hf Don't Call Me Gaga

weed 78,896
the author of the article is beautiful but only makes sense that it would change. I wouldn't even do the flat hand tho, I'd put my hand up as if I'm holding an invisible iphone lol

Mindblown 6,744
Apparently younger kids use it because they weren't raised with the same type of phones as most of us. It makes sense.

PoetsTryinWrite 1,262
I remember incorporating this into choreography for Just Dance when I was 12 thinking it was all futuristic and stuff... back when it was fun to flip a phone. I laughed at the kid not knowing why his mum says “hang up the phone” Defend Your Humanity.
