Sales don't equally mean consumption though and are based on a formula based on companies. 1250 paid streams equal one sale. A streamed sale is still around $5.46 (though it varies among artists, this is the lowest rate reported). It's comparably lower than what an album sells for retail, but there is no manufacturing, distribution, or retail cut. Taylor Swift still made $185 million without touring last year. They might be making a bit less, but it's not laughable and they're nowhere near starving. Streaming also rids of several restraints such as limited disc space, which will allow for even longer tracklists.

I understand what you are saying but still, the money is not the same as it was 10 years ago, which even then it was not the same as in the early 2000s and so on. Less and less money are being made from music with each new generation. I didn’t say they were starving, but becoming rich from music is not as easy and fast anymore.

Come on that’s a bulls**t excuse :neyde:

Fenty beauty and Fenty clothing line are all subsidiaries of LVMH As far as I’ve seen Kendo manages practically all the brand, I can think that Rihanna must be the face of the company so it’s not like it takes all of her time to be part of this company :excuseu:

Rihanna is overrated.

I used to like her and was excited for a new album but clearly, she’s only in it for the money and doesn’t care about her fans. So guess what, this fan doesn’t care about her :coffee:

I’m agreeing with you, Rihanna is giving music up for money. But would artists like Gaga, Madonna and even Justin Bieber do that? Never

EDIT: yes, also there’s a reference in her Bedtime Stories booklet about them warning her for that album again to not put out that music, i saw that also in an interview when her producer appeared

Ngl, JB is one of the last people I would have used as an example, what :laughga:

You gotta think about the fact that there's more to music than releasing an album to the world. Rihanna has been doing this since she was 17 and her entire adult life has been dedicated to being a celebrity. Her 20's consisted almost exclusively of new music. She's signed to a large label, probably with huge responsibilities. It's got to be stressful, and at some point I wouldn't be surprised if she lost her passion and has hated releasing music because of the expectations by her label and her fans. Also, Music of the Sun was released just 3 years ahead of the Fame but Rihanna is on album #9 while Gaga just released #6. Though Gaga technically has C2C and ASIB, C2C was a cover album. Also, TF and TFM are EPs, while every Rihanna album consists of 11+ songs. I understand if she is just TIRED, and possibly uninspired.

Having her makeup brand probably gives her a lot more freedom than music does.

Sorry but I do not see your point in the second part of the first paragraph, regarding Rihanna releasing more albums and C2C being a cover. Rihanna Cleary doesn't have the passion for music anymore... What I'm saying is... She has **** artistic morals if she's giving it up for money. Many unknown artists play all their lives, because it's their passion, it's what they live and breathe. I was just making an observation. Just seems like a massive shame and a waste. God, the things I would do as an artist with her kind of record deal🤦🏻‍♂️😂

You're trying to make some weird point that Rihanna has released more music and more songs, like that will ever change the fact she's money-driven. Here's a heads up: Gaga may have released only 6 albums (but I include ASIB because she wrote songs on it) - but she wrote all her songs. Can't say the same for Rihanna, so that invalidates your point tbh, not that it's related or anything xo

She's not tired. She's a businesswoman and money-driven, and clearly never had the true passion for music in the first place.

I loved Rihanna more and more with her albums, but i'm also glad not to feel starting like i was for pop_Ga. Actually we got so many cool music, and if you don't know what to do listen to Sufjan Stevens, he's a true Genius and he's hot af and he puts out a lot of music.

hello hello baby.

She's not tired. She's a businesswoman and money-driven, and clearly never had the true passion for music in the first place.

A Dailymail article says she's money driven though. The same news site that wrote a headline about Gaga's cleavage this week. And that's some of the less questionable "reporting" they've done. Rihanna has written some of her biggest songs such as "The Monster", "FourFiveSeconds", "Sex With Me", "Bitch Better Have My Money", "Birthday Cake", "Rude Boy", and "Pon De Replay". She hasn't written every song in her discography, but neither has Gaga and just to further that point you should look at what songs Interscope acquired from her before they brought in a team to help her write too. Gaga might have credits on every song, but she was essentially handed SFA and Sour Candy, if not more tracks.

I make the point that Rihanna has released more music to emphasize how tired she could be. While writing is certainly part of the process, there is a lot more to do such as promo, MVs, and touring. Even if she isn't fully an artist, you yourself said she was manufactured. Part of that is the use by the music industry to profit from her, and she might feel tired of being a work horse for them. It's not just about a nice shiny record deal with big promo and distribution plans, but also the personal effects it has on somebody.

I would also like to state that there's a reason this is the first time I've engaged with you across the 1,000+ posts I've made. Just wanted to bring awareness to your nasty attitude when posting and responding to people. I haven't once in my initial response attacked you as a person or tried to invalidate what you said. I only tried to broaden your considerations of what might cause her to act the way she does. And you go around saying stuff like "not that it's related or anything xo" like you're doing something cute. All it does is push people away from engaging with you and possibly ignore you, which might not be something you want on a discussion forum. Just a thought.

I hope the fate of this album won’t be similar in any way to Fergie’s Double Dutchess: after way too many pushbacks, it became completely dated and tanked hard.

Rihanna‘s following won’t let that happen, however I’m sure the album’s just sitting there while the music industry’s moving forward... Unless she double checks and updates (?) it when she decides it’s time to put it out.

Yeah I'm assuming everything at this point has been scrapped. She ideally is working on music all the time like most artists and when an album eventually forms it'll be songs that were made recently and not something several years old

There’s many factors to this and it’s in my opinion that she should stick to her beauty stuff now because she’s known more for her looks anyway so that sells, and also it’s been what? 6-7 years since her last album release and the music soundscape is shifting too fast for her to put out anything trendy, and tbh it’s also possible at this point she might not even do as well commercially the longer she’s away from the pop music market
