Though the article discusses why Trump is giving the GOP a choice, your post doesn't really address what choice the GOP has to make otherwise. Also the contents of the thread better reflect an Opinion thread than a Political thread because it addresses your thoughts about Trump's racism and scientific ignorance rather than policy or the like. As a more direct response to what you have to say, I'm not surprised. To him addressing the virus doesn't have any advantages and his base still largely believes the virus is a joke. Trumps polling continues to worsen as he seems unable to dig himself out this hole right now. He’s going to continue to take more extreme positions on immigration, racism, etc to rally his base. expect things from him to get a lot worse. Wouldn't you think we would want to curb COVID cases and stop the spread of infection? I don't understand why he isn't doing this which would help him in polling and re-election. We need to vote him out now before this situation gets any worse You would think so, but at this point Trump trying to do something to legitimately curve the spread of the virus would just be a betrayal of his base. He's spent his time since he completely flip-flopped in March, trying to deny the seriousness of the virus and turn protecting against COVID as a partisan issue. Him just now acknowledging the serious threat the virus poses after denying it for 4 months would be seen as handing Biden the election on even more of a silver platter.
