I'm well aware that Applause was just as if not more successful than Rain On Me. What I meant was that Rain On Me is a bigger hit compared to cardigan, whereas Applause, as big as it was, was completly overshadowed by Prism's lead single, Roar. So, while in 2013, Katy dominated Gaga on all relevant metrics, in 2020, while folklore is overall the bigger era, we at least have a single that outshined Taylor's lead. ARTPOP had bigger debut WW than Prism. But the lack of singles and MV's really ended the era short, so album sales/SPS ended up being way too low compared to her older albums...
