27monster27 15,863
https://www.popularmechanics.com/science/a32962578/worlds-smallest-motor/ At only just sixteen atoms and smaller than a nanometer in diameter, this is the smallest motor ever made in human history. It was created by researchers from Swiss Federal Laboratories for Material Sciences. At this small size, this could be a major breakthrough for nano-robots, incredibly small computer chips, and other upcoming advents of smaller technology. This motor, as far as we know with current our current technology and understanding of the laws of physics, is pretty much at the limit for how small we can make motors. Anything smaller would have issues functioning mainly due to quantum tunneling; this motor itself has a 1% chance of quantum tunneling changing its rotation. he/him/his
