It's a really wonderful soundtrack influenced by many subgenres including early upbeat hip-hop, 2012 zedd-y EDM, ballads, and alternative pop. In the movie, these songs take place in the late 90s (Alive, Hologram, Your Body Talk, Hologram) which portrays Celeste (The movie's popstar) rising as an artist prior to surviving a tragic shooting while the rest are in 2010-2018 which are influenced by the early EDM scene and are supposed to be her "WDYDT" as she decays into a sellout. Same producers, they recycled the wobbling lead stem which plays at the intro. You'll like it as long as you don't mind the lack of storyline! In general people say it's great in the first half but falls apart in the 2nd half just like every AHS season ever IMO the soundtrack is a hidden gem and I wish more gheys knew about it, it really gives everything they want.
