When conversion therapy was still a thing back then, a lot of parents would get their gay kids to undergo one cuz they believed it was the 'cure' for homosexuality and that what they were doing was coming from a good place. This isn't related to the thread, I'm just using it as an example. Intentions are important but the effects of her actions is also just as important.
