Umm yeah... in POLITICS. You realise every other country's leaders have been in/around politics their whole careers before taking the highest rank? It's like someone quitting their job as a nail tech and becoming a doctor overnight, because the public voted for them to get the job, even though they have NO qualifications or right to be in a job with that kind of responsibility.

I think the idea of a career politician is very unpopular among a lot of American voters, and that’s the reason why an outsider candidate like Trump won over a career politician like Hillary. The title of “politician” carries a negative connotation and a wide swath of the electorate is looking for someone who they see as more authentic, more in-touch with and closer to the people, and less (see: un)attached to the political machine as it were, and gridlock and self-serve-dness that runs rampant throughout DC; Congress has an approval rating of 25%!

If Democrats really wanted a shot in November then Michelle Obama would agree to be Biden’s VP pick:shrug: a vote for Biden is, in all honesty, a vote for whoever his running mate is given that the man is nearing 80 and is borderline senile as it is

Omg lol. The “career politicians” people hate are the 80 yr olds who sit their crusty asses in the senate their entire lives without ever accomplishing anything. Not the people who work their way up in various elected positions in different levels of government

Anybody in a high level position in politics needs relevant experience

Let's think of someone worse than Trump and make him POTUS :billie:

Do people really take politics seriously anymore? Or did the US really reach that point of delusion where you mix celebrity culture with social issues?

I've always said that the US system is a popularity contest for the rich not an actual election :huntyga: the entire system is awful, and too far gone to repair. I'm so sorry to all US citizens that it's been set up this way. Your whole country would be better off if you have a leader who had an in depth understanding of how to make a better future for the people

I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin.

If only serious people were involved in politics seriously.  . . :huntyga:

I hate this year. I hate it so much.

There is no way I'm trading in one psycho for another. Biden will get my vote in November. Kanye is as big a joke as Trump.

Also Kanye is a Trumpster (he can deny it all he wants now) and I wouldn't be surprised at all if this is to split the votes and take away from Biden so Trump wins. Trump supporters won't vote for Kanye, but young people who would vote for Biden probably would.

I'm sorry but WHY can anyone be President? This needs to change and what I mean is, you should atleast have to be a politician or atleast have been involved in Politics for years to be nominated for President. It needs to be a bit harder than just some idiot (Trump/Kanye) running and they get elected.

You cant just run for president. Most states have ballot access deadlines which Kanye will not make. Most states also have restrictions on write-in candidates too. He's doing this for attention, probably for his new music or whatever branded product he has coming out soon.

This. But it’s fun watching the masses think he’s actually running.

Exactly. It’s also so unfair for actual serious politicians.

It's kinda both, but more like people are ****ing stupid so they vote the names rather than the programs and what the candidates believe in.

In Italy we have Matteo Salvini who literally said  "South Italy is Africa" in an offensive way years ago and people of the south are supporting him today.
