Aarghya 44,746 Posted July 4, 2020 (edited) We are a nation with no geographic boundaries Bound together through our beliefs We are like-minded individuals Sharing a common vision Pushing toward a world rid of color lines Music, poetry, dance, unity Welcome to the Megarate on one of the greatest albums of all time -- Janet Jackson's Rhythm Nation 1814 Janet Jackson’s Rhythm Nation 1814 is the follow-up to her breakthrough third album, Control, which was a pop hit and turned Janet into a superstar. But Janet, along with producers Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis, decided to create Rhythm Nation as a concept album used to address social issues such as substance abuse and racism, while still providing love songs and dance tracks. The significance of the title is that “Rhythm Nation” is a socially conscious and inclusive nation, while “1814” is related to the year “The Star-Spangled Banner” was created. Rhythm Nation was Janet’s second consecutive album to debut at the top of the Billboard 200 and would go on to be certified six times platinum in the US and sell more than 12 million copies worldwide. The album is historic in several ways, being the only one to feature seven top-five pop singles and contain three number one pop singles in three separate calendar years—"Miss You Much" (1989), “Black Cat” and “Escapade” (1990), and “Love Will Never Do (Without You)” (1991). “Alright” also reached #1 on the US Dance Club Songs chart and “Come Back To Me” hit #1 on the US Adult Contemporary chart. Rhythm Nation is also one of nine albums to produce at least four number one singles. The album is also featured on Rolling Stone’s list of The Greatest 500 Albums of All Time. Rules: 1) You have to rate (1-10) each and every track of the album. 2) You can also rate your most favorite track 11. Just one TRACK. 3) You can give ONE ZERO to any of the tracks. Multiple ZEROES are not allowed. 4) DECIMALS also allowed. 5) Trolling is prohibited. 6) Comments are not necessary. Another reason for using 1814 is because it's the year The Star-Spangled Banner was written. I'll never explain again... 1 Quote Share
 Facebook Twitter
