Deaths in US are still lower than many countries when you take into consideration population.

I know that Sweden strategy is controversial and dont want to get into that discussion. I would only mention that their numbers are lower than of some countries who had lockdowns.

Returning to the subject on this topic, why the number of cases goes up and yet the deaths are going down?

Since you catch the disease until you die there’s an average of 2 weeks after getting the first symptoms.

Add the average 6 day incubation period and voilà.

New York Times numbers take into account 14 days change, so it's probably not that.

Maybe young people are the ones catching it this time?

We should also look at the age average of current new cases

I cant find the average age of new cases, but it is the no 1 possibility.

No one talked about caution. I asked what changed. Why a number is going up and the other one is going down?

At least some people gave some possible answers, but it's sad that most members transformed this topic into an attack thread against me just because I asked a question.

I think some people take the alienation approach as a form of peer pressure to get people thinking of personal responsibility.

People are bound to disagree in specifics or strategies, but we're dealing with a challenge that affects everyone directly or indirectly with a highly infectious pathogen. This disease doesn't care about beliefs, politics, or egos, it just replicates when it finds its ideal environment in a host.

Exercising caution by following CDC guidelines is what people should be doing whatever the data shows. Who wants to be the one who got their loved ones sick or even bring on their demise due to negligence?

The OP likes to rail against Americans every chance he gets. He said in another thread that he hopes the US cases keep increasing and that we get what we all deserve

I dont understand your points.

So it is ok for people to go after me because of something I didnt say or for something they think I've said n threads ago?

I agree with your points about caution, but you sound like I've previously said in this thread something about those things, which is easy to see it's not the case.

I didn't say it was okay to make personal attacks.  However, I understand people are frustrated that many people aren't taking this pandemic seriously. Many of those people, some who view this forum, may look at your points as an excuse to not worry and take needless risks.

Can we agree that the lockdowns and social distancing were working to slow down the infection rate?

And yet the number of deaths is lower and lower. So something has changed for the good. What?

Deaths lag behind cases, nothing has "changed for the good"

Deaths in the US are still lower comparitively- though i refuse to defend trump and his admin’s slow response. While there are Americans who feel like a mask is somehow impeding on their rights, most of us now are wearing them. Especially in states like NC where it is mandated to go into any public building with a mask.

These threads are made only for some of you who are waiting for any chance to hate on America. There are so many of us Americans who follow the rules. Who listen to scientific guidelines and who genuinely care about the people around us. Maybe you’re one of the Americans who does not? But don’t come in here and disrespect the Americans who are heding every warning and taking every measure. And please don’t speak for us. Worry about yourself and make sure you are staying safe in your state or country- but don’t speak for all Americans.

It takes some time to die from Covid-19 after being infected with it...

Look at Germany, a country that had good testing from the start:

New cases (7-day moving average) went down from 5808 to 2408 between April 1st and April 20th (-60%)

New deaths (7-day moving average) went up from 103 to 238 between April 1st and April 20th (+131%)

got your answer now? Didn't have to spam a whole thread for something only the tiniest bit of research could've clarified...

They dont lag as much. The increase in cases started more than 2 weeks ago and yet the deaths have continue to go down.

What I have found out is that the criteria for testing has changed.

They do tho, don’t know where you’re getting your information but it’s wrong.

Do u understand that the New York times numbers take into account a 14 day moving average not 7, like you say in your example.

So I guess you are double wrong?

Also. I didnt spam anything. I've made a comment asking a question that got some people like you fired up. At least you tried to answer the question.

Edit : btw. I found the answer. Criteria for testing has changed. It is easier to get tested for milder cases.
