What’s wrong with women being obsessed with their body? Who the **** are you to tell a woman what she should and shouldn’t do? Should I call you sexist like you called me racist based on this? Just stop telling people what they should do and if you have a problem with me PM me.

Did I tell a woman what she should or should not do in my post? Obsession is never a healthy behavior, obsession comes from trauma. Jameela is simply saying that Kim should be careful what she posts online because she represents the standard of beauty right now and when she posts a tiny waist like that (a figure no woman would ever get without years of corset tightening, meaning pain, scars and trauma to the body) she’s advertising that as a rule everyone should follow. We all know the media sets unrealistic beauty patterns for women, I don’t know how any of you don’t see the problem with that.

I don’t see an issue either with promoting healthy lifestyle in general but most quick weight loss products are damaging to your body - including the ones that Kim promoted and that is why Jameela called her out.

I also feel like there is a difference between highlighting the importance of health and selling quick ways to weight loss. Mostly because your weight doesn’t necessarily define your health but also it has a mental health aspect to it as well.

I don’t think it’s about normalizing unhealthy lifestyle, it just tries to highlight in a very shallow world that having a fully slim muscle body does not equal to health and happiness and that all body types deserve to be shown, celebrated whether it’s curvey or skinny or anything else.

I do see where you’re coming from but I honestly don’t think her promoting those pills or tea or whatever it is is problematic or something to waste our energy on. She is a businesswoman and she is doing her job. I don’t think she’d be promoting them if they were THAT damaging to our body. I as someone who has those kinds of problems honestly don’t think it’s bad at all and I don’t see that as her glamorizing skinny body type. Especially considering her brand always uses women if different sizes and colors.

But it is her body and she is loving her body and we shouldn’t be talking about that at all. Why is body positivity such a one way ticket? So some bodies are okay but a tiny waist is not? Let her have whatever body she wants to have. It’s not hear fault people want to look like her. She shouldn’t hide her body only because some girl would want to copy it. That’s such a wrong way to look at it. If we love women and their bodies then we love ALL types of bodies even those that are unrealistically “perfect”.

Any physician would tell you that those products are not healthy at all and do not provide weight loss since the only way to lose weight in a healthy way and KEEPING that weight is to exercise and eat healthy. Those products may work for a while but the body is gonna miss the calories and in no time the person will gain the weight back. Losing weight requires a change of lifestyle completely and a change of mind. Pills and tea will not provide that.

It is her body and she does whatever she wants with it but we should absolutely be talking about that. We should be talking about anything that's harmful to young girl's minds. That tiny waist is not natural. She's been corseting for years now. Do you know how traumatic that is to a woman's body? The corset is a device that was used for centuries to restrain women, make them suffer so they would look like what men wanted them to look like.

Did you really just type this? It’s not healthy to be obsessed with anything and being obsessed with your body/looks can lead to body dysmorphia.

I am a woman and I will say this: if a girl wants to look like that then let her be. If a girl wants to be curvy then let her me. I’m sorry but my whole life I’ve been listening to people saying how I should look and what I should do with my body and I am sick of that. Let a woman do whatever she wants to. Even if it requires dangerous plastic surgery - it’s her choice and it’s what she want to do with her body. I see where you’re coming from tho and I do understand you but that could be said about curvy girls too. They are KINDA promoting unhealthy lifestyle with their “I don’t care about how I look, I will eat whatever I want to”...

Yes I did because if a woman wants to look good then she has every right to look good (whatever her definition of that word is). I disagree about that being unhealthy. Maybe I didn’t express myself right but what I wanted to say is that if a woman wants to look the certain way then who the hell are all of you to tell her how she should look and what she should be doing with her body / presentation of it? This is a woman speaking to you and I firmly stand by what I just said. Let women do whatever they want to do with their bodies. It’s literally not your discussion to have if you’re not a woman.

I get where you're coming from too and I agree with you that women shouldn't be told what to look like but I think you don't see that Kim was told to look like that her entire life. And she is telling other women to look like that. And I don't mean that literally, I mean that she's the posterchild of beauty right now and that's what she's selling.

About the bigger girls subject you brought, I agree with you to certain extent that it is promoting an unhealthy lifestyle too. But I think that movement has more to do with society excluding women because they are not the standard and less to do with promoting an unhealthy lifestyle. I don't think those women promote eating whatever they want to, I have some plus size model friends and they exercise and eat healthy, but they're bigger and that's ok. It's more about saying that women are built differently and not only one look is beautiful.

There’s a difference between wanting to look good and being obsessed. Being obsessed with your body and looks is not healthy and can lead to more serious issues.

I’m a woman as well and I understand perfectly where Jameela is coming from.

Also, I don’t think anyone here is against women (or anyone) doing what they please with their bodies. Literally no one said that. But Jameela is right that the patriarchy has been harmful to women and young girls and it’s sad that you can’t see that.

@Regina George @Brecht @matteonster @modern ecstasy

What Jameela's doing is appropriating what Kim does to Jameela's own benefit with some passive-aggressiveness to her. Sure she has a point in calling out Kim's choices for how she's presenting her body to her audience (Kylie and her sisters had to pay I think like a 10M dollar lawsuit after promoting fake waist trainers/corsets).

But she's doing so by borderlining on shaming Kim with entitled statements of Kim's feelings on how she perceives her body, which is not for Jameela to say. And that type of conflict is also something to be careful with your own audience. Yes, there's a difference between body positivity, and promoting an unrealistic body image on a platform where young girls might do harmful things to themselves to achieve that image.

Perception on social media is a double edged sword situation, and while Jameela is all for women empowerment and how women are free to do as they please and "it’s my body my choice", at the same time she's dragging Kim for her choices... so which one is it. It's probably a wrong worded statement and she should've contacted directly to Kim and work together to elevate the conversation on these issues...

Dramatica

I'm gonna go preach on y'all. Why can't everyone care about their own goddamn body? Why do we always have to have some "advocates" of some lifestyle?

Just live your goddamn life and be happy with who you are, and don't take your body/life for granted.

I didn't ask for a free ride, I only asked you to show me a real good time.

Oh I can see that and I feel that every single day of my life. But just because I understand the struggle of being a woman and being told what to look like and what I should do I don’t think we should blame ANY woman because she looks the certain way and is “promoting” her body. I am not fit and I certainly don’t look like Kim K but I don’t think it’s so wrong for women to want to look like that. I think she looks great but I don’t want to look like that. I am happy with my body rn and if someone came to me and told me that I shouldn’t be looking like this and that I should be promoting something else I’d be seriously offended and seriously hurt. Her body is not “healthy” by any means but who am I to tell her that is she’s happy with it or any other girl who thinks that would make her happy? I see where you’re coming from and I do understand you but I feel like you’re not really getting what I want to say.
