Interesting story about their performance at Live Aid and in particular this Bad performance. "It is a great song, and a powerful performance. Live Aid was an environment in which U2 really shone. Arguably this is the performance that catapulted them from critically lauded buzz band to superstardom. "What is interesting is, when Bono jumped off the stage (which he already made a habit of doing) the other band members could not see where he went at all, so they kept playing the tune until he returned to the stage making this version of "Bad" about 12 minutes long. Because of Bono's decision, their set was shortened from three songs to two, which prevented them from performing "Pride." According to Bono, backstage his mates were so pissed because of what he did that they almost fired him. They all thought the performance had been a disaster. It wasn't till later when they started receiving calls of congratulations that they realized how well it had actually gone over." The dark-haired 15-year-old girl he pulled out of the crowd and danced with was there for another band but from that day forward became a life-long U2 fan.
